That’s absolutely true. I’m just not sure about what criteria makes the most sense when judging DPOY.

Are you saying that if we had the exact same defensive play, or even better from these guys, if we were also great on offense to the point where we had a 21 point cushion in every game then suddenly it disqualify our guys because they weren’t individually putting us over the top?

I think it just gets too weird when you start judging “value” that way. I’m not saying that Gilmore is or isn’t the DPOY. I’m just saying that his contributions are what they are. We don’t really know how games would go if not for him. So I say judge these guys on what they do, regardless of how the rest of their team plays.
