Thing is they played the Texans close in one of those losses and almost beat them with their starters. Steelers took the Ravens to OT and almost beat them with their starters as well with Duck at QB in the end. Going to be intesting since both teams will be resting the starters.
"You've heard people brag about 'being in the zone'. They don't know what the Hell being in the zone is about. I played in the NFL for 15 years and I was only in the zone that one time." - "Mean" Joe Greene on the 1974 playoff victory over Oakland
If his arm strength and accuracy are better than duck’s why not put him in there if the offense is floundering
I realize our franchise QB has been out for the season but this is still the most painful display of Steeler offense I can remember since I started watching in the 1977 season
However, Duck was benched. So, this will be his first start after a benching. If the trend holds, he'll come out looking better than ever. Unfortunately, if the trend holds, he'll also be out with an injury by half time and Paxton will have to come in and play.

Actually I don't believe in that nonsense. When you watch a team play you can see more than thier record. Titans are jumping off the page. Steelers defense doing that same thing. But we all know This league these refs are driven by offense right now.

I am not a Paxton Lynch fan .....
That said I was absolutely in favor of starting him in wk 17 for no reason other than we had nothing to lose but the football game we was gonna lose anyways ...
turns out we lost and we still do not know what we have in Lynch in this system ....
what would it have hurt by playing him ? could he have been worse than ducks last 10 quarters before today 6 picks 1 td or whatever it was with a qb rating of 33 ?
doubtful but I digress
Kenny Pickett is who I though he was .. Eagles didn't value him either , now he is a Stain at the Mistake by the Lake 3 teams in 4 years more of a shooting star than a superstar

The problem with playing Lynch over a healthy Duck in week 17 is that ALL of the reps and practices and more reps have gone to the 2 very young QBs Rudolph and Hodges since Lynch joined the PS. While I agree this was a nothing to lose game I can not agree that Lynch would have had any chance running this offense this week. Lynch was promoted because there was noone else to call on if Hodges got hurt. Next season Ben(HoF QB wears #7) will be back and the whole "Rudolph or Hodges or Lynch" debate will be completely pointless. While I would not have been disappointed if Lynch HAD played, I'm also not disappointed that he didn't.
Just because a player succeeded or failed with another team or in another system doesn't mean that is who that player is. Sometimes a change of team or system can make a huge difference with a player. NFL history is full of examples of this. I am more disappointed that Rudolph didn't seem to grow at all over the course of this season. Especially when it was known Ben was not coming back this year. This was Rudolph's offense to lead. IMO, he did a terrible job with this opportunity. No it was not ALL bad but it was more bad than good. Also my opinion, I think Hodges played better overall than did Rudolph. If the Steelers do indeed make changes in the offensive staff this offseason I hope they benefit Rudolph, Hodges, and Lynch.
Duck was 9-25 for 95 yards. I know the conditions were bad....but man. I think that is a little worse than a middling backup QB.
He couldn't take advantage of a single blitz. Not one that I can think of.
He almost had as many sacks, intentional grounding penalties, turnovers, and safeties as completions. That's not good.
Do not need another thread on this so putting this here. As bad as I thought the offense was it turns out it was even more pitiful than that.
Of the 36 offensive possessions that covered the Steelers’ season-ending three-game losing streak, 27 ended with either a punt, a turnover or a safety. They scored one touchdown in eight of their last nine games. Sunday’s performance, blessedly, included a season-low 20:33 of possession time, which I guess they figured was all anyone could stand.
