Steelers Spin: Who Let The Dogs Out?

The 2019 Pittsburgh Steelers are in the midst of a remarkable transformation before our eyes.
In the offseason and over the past few years, the team had put all of their championship eggs into the basket of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Those hopes were irreversibly scrambled the moment Big Ben grabbed his elbow during the team’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday by a score of 26-28.
The next day, our worst fears were confirmed. Gone, baby, gone. The team’s franchise player is out for the season.
The Steelers Way of “we don’t rebuild, we only reload”?
    Gone, baby, gone.

Re: Steelers Spin: Who Let The Dogs Out?

The Steelers have done next to nothing to warrant being arrogant and stuck in the "Steeler Way" anymore. The 2010's were overall a bust, and Ben got old overnight and is declined off a cliff. #6 was a decade ago. They just missed the playoffs. They haven't won a playoff game since Jan. 2017. They have only won a paltry three postseason games since 2011. Their superstar talent is gone or on their way out, and what they have left is a team of youngsters and nobodies starting a new Quarterback this Sunday in San Francisco.

Even when Ben wasn't hurt, the team basically looked dead. Not lifeless or Lethargic. Straight Dead. If things kept up the way they were, the Steelers was not only going to miss the playoffs, but crash into a pit. The Offense was bad, and the Defense was worse.

Call it desperation. Call it reckless. I call it an organization seeing the writing on the wall and just saying "fuck it" they have nothing more to lose. Besides more games of course.

Thanks for posting Shoes but Steeler Nation don't need anymore crybaby writers like Michael K.

The thing that sucks is we gotta rebuild with Ben's cap hit. At least by the time it's off the books, Mason will be on the last year of his rookie contract and if he's the guy, we could probably afford weapons for him

Long way off and Ben could be traded or cut to save a big amount of it. All depends on how Rudy does.
