    Seahawks game: POSITIVES

This is a thread for positives from the Seahawks game.

    1. Watt

    2. It was closer than it looked. Games are decided by a play here, a play there. If any one of the following plays occurs differently, the Steelers win:

-Steven Nelson intercepts the ball* before the half (a good facemask by DK Metcalf) there’s no FG. That’s 3 less points for the Seahawks... and the Steelers win.

-Dan McCullers doesn’t touch the long-snapper. The Seahawks take the FG (instead of going for the TD). That’s 4 less points for the Seahawks... and the Steelers win.

-Donte Montcrief doesn’t give them an INT. He set up a short field. That’s 7 less points for the Seahawks... and the Steelers win.

-The DPI isn’t called on Terrell Edmunds. (That was a 40-yard swing in field position.) The Seahawks punt. That’s 7 less points for the Seahawks... and the Steelers win.

    3. Steven Nelson was not targeted by Tom Brady. He was only targeted 4 times by Russell Wilson... allowing only 1 reception. He’s on pace to allow 8 receptions TOTAL this season.

    What else...???
    Please, add to this list.

    -Tuitt looks unstoppable
-A certain special teams player looks back to form but I'm not jinxing it.
    - Benny Snell football showed up for 1 play
    - Xavier Grimble didn't fumble on the way to a sure touchdown

Eddie Munster Jr. finally figures out that Tomlin has overstayed his usefulness and shows him the door after a disappointing 6-10 season.

The coaching staff is overhauled and a new defensive guru is brought in to teach these guys how to ... ya know ... actually tackle somebody.

    Re: Seahawks game: POSITIVES

    Here is all I got:

    1. Most of the "big" plays on defense are coming from when/where a rookie (Bush) or "new"/"young" guys (Kam/Barron/Edmunds/Nelson) interface. In theory, that improves. The second Seahawks TD to Dissly is a perfect example. Looked like Bush AND Barron went towards the RB, leaving neither of them to deal with the TE. THere was another big play where Nelson blitzed and the safety didn't cover up the spot. If that improves, there are less scoring and chunk plays taking place each week.

    2. Something happens to jolt the worst WR corps in football. I honestly think that only thing may be the rookie, Johnson. He might actually have the route running and the quicks to beat CBs one on one. Side note (that isn't positive at all): when do we start talking about how Juju is just a big slot WR and can't run as the main guy?

If those two things happen, this team gets better quickly.

Adding to the above, the passing game did look a lot better once Moncrief went to the bench. And the less we saw of Switzer, the mire effective it was. Washington and Johnson, maybe even Holton, could be decent NFL receivers.

Think about it - if you had Justin Brown and Dri Archer on the field frequently, taking up half your WR spots, you are basically operating at half effectiveness in the passing game. Same idea here. That might explain our horrendous start to the year, and the real "addition by subtraction" could be giving the new guys more playing time. They all looked capable of catching the ball.

It also improved once Ben went to the bench...so that’s not really saying much...lol

I'm convinced Tomlin's tenure is tied to Ben's. The Steelers wouldn't want to thrust a new head coach on their 15-year vet and are willing to show Tomlin the door when Ben retires. I'm not sure Ben comes back after this waste of a season, and if not - Tomlin is as good as gone. With his imbecile coordinators in tow.

Well Mason looked pretty good and, who knows what will happen now. Get rid of Moncreif!! He dropped more balls than Heath Miller did is entire career!!!

    - Watt is the real deal, if anyone wasn't already convinced last year, be convinced this year. Defenses need to game plan for him now.
    - Nelson was the lone bright spot in the secondary, the dude can cover. I hope the interceptions will come too.
    - Rudolph looked good
    - Offensive line gave all day for QB's to throw
    - Moncrief was benched after the first drop which set up Seattle deep in our territory. About time this coaching staff figured out he's trash.
    - McDonald was finally used in the gameplan. I honestly think they need to feed him more, he's one of the few players on our offense now with 'difference maker' potential
    - Diontae Johnson did pretty well, I like that they're using him on punt returns. He seems like someone who can make plays, unlike Switzer.

Watt should be signed to an extension now.
