So, trying to be constructive here. I realize I just opened the door to the "Fire Everyone" chorus. Whatever.
1. Work the Dolphins hard for Fitzpatrick and get them to throw in Davante Parker. I am not even sure that Minkah is that good, but I know that Kelly and Davis are NOT. Parker has been a massive disappointment his entire career, but he would be the Steelers most physically intriguing wideout. I would be willing to give up the following package of misfit toys that I do not suspect the Dolphins would actually want, but maybe convince them that it helps them lose:
- Round 2 pick
- Sean Davis
- Dante Moncrief
- Banner or Chuks
2. Cut Switzer. He offers nothing to dictate anything to an NFL defense. Sign Rogers or some other FA scrap-heap WR. Repeat that process until you find someone who can actually get open at an NFL level.
3. Diontae Johnson gets force-fed the ball starting now. Rookie and raw -- do not care at all. If he can actually bleed defenses a bit out of the slot, then maybe (just maybe) Juju gets a bit more open.
4. See what happens when you play-action? Really cool things. That happens several times a series from this point forward. I would run more play-action than any team in the league.
5. I was SUPER WRONG about Chickillo. I thought he would be an assignment sound and stable rotational guy. He goes to the bench immediately and gets stapled there. I play Alphabet Soup and live with any mistakes. It can't get worse. Two weeks in a row now that Chickillo's inability to play basic NFL defense has directly led to a touchdown.
6. I seriously consider playing Haden at FS and either Sutton or Burns on the outside. Live with that crap-fest to MAYBE get a playmaker in the middle of the field.
