Sad story - RIP
During the 70s Sam Davis was someone who was never going to Canton but one of the glue guys who helped make that team so formidable. One of Bill Nunn’s first finds and one of the few pre-Noll Steelers who was not let go. He had a great game against Randy White in SB XIII
Back in the day when players had to prepare for their life’s work after football, he had an offseason job with Heinz and was thought to be headed for big things after football. It did not end well for him physically or financially, including a “fall” by him in 1991 that ruined him physically and was regarded by some of the 70s Steelers as an intentional beat down in retribution for something.
