The Raiders should fine him for posting his fine on social media and then he could post that fine and be fined for posting it and then it continues on in a cycle until AB is broke.

What about seeing Brown being suspended by his team and losing all his guaranteed money !!!

    This is much better!!!!!

I know, I was laughing my ass of this morning. Ruptured achilles was a little harsh but the self destruction is awesome. Its more vindicating for Steelers organization.

Honestly, this is pretty dumb of the Raiders. You knew you were taking on a headcase that just quit on his previous team because of guaranteed money and perceived disrespect. Then you decide to fine him over missed preseason practices on the eve of the regular season because Mayock decide to prove he has a bigger dick. Even though the Raiders, Mayock, and Gruden are in the right here — who else did they think this was going to go over with AB?

Like he was going to write them a check and thank them for someone finally disciplining him?

If you take on a dude like AB, you gotta just roll with him doing his own thing.

Problem is that Brown has missed too much practice for only one helmet!...Brown deserves to be punished for missing too much practice and thinking bigger than the team

The big mistake the Raiders made was to trade for him in March and give a big contract to him after.

If the Raiders knew he would react this way, it’s not a bad deal if they can get out from under his contract. The way he’s been acting all off season, when he’s there he doesn’t participate in drills with the team, he does some on his own, he is on his phone during meetings. He’s an obvious distraction when he’s around, he’s a distraction when he’s not around. Teammates probably are resentful towards him. It’s brilliant by the Raiders if they can get out from under a $30M guarantee.

If they get out of the contract maybe it’s okay?

This is all like adopting a troubled rescue pet and being shocked when it misbehaves in the exact way the shelter told you it would.

Any team that traded for AB should’ve known it was agreeing to take on a “special case” that wouldn’t fit in with the usual team patterns. To be shocked by that and your only plan to get into it over money and “disrespect” with a guy wired the way AB seems to be is essentially planning to fail. So what was the point?

I think the trade of Mayock in march was a rookie mistake!!

David Carr says Raiders captains are behind Jon Gruden in Antonio Brown decision

Posted by Curtis Crabtree on September 6, 2019

Whatever course of action the Oakland Raiders decide to take regarding the missteps of star wide receiver Antonio Brown, Jon Gruden and the Raiders front office will have the backing of the team locker room.

David Carr, the brother of Raiders quarterback Derek Carr, said on NFL Network Thursday night that the team captains had asked to meet with Gruden earlier in the day to let him know that they will back the team’s decision on Brown.

“They’ve gone to bat for this guy,” David Carr said. “With the helmet, missing practices, through all that Jon Gruden, Derek, a lot of the players… they like Antonio Brown. They want him to be part of this team. But then you do things that are irrational and we try to sit up here and explain irrational moves and the things and actions that he does and try to defend him, it’s almost impossible to do. And so you find yourself in a situation where as a player, as a team, you go in – as the captains did today – and talk to Jon Gruden and say whatever you decide to do, because it was so bad, because of what happened to Mike Mayock and what happened on the field was so bad, they’re fine with whatever they decide. The players are fine with whatever happens.”

It’s the old “fresh new start” idea I guess. I mean the Steelers aren’t going to go full disclosure on a guy like AB that they are trying to get rid of...

Good point. Raiders just needed a plan for what to do when AB went off the rails. If this is the best they got, well....it wasn’t much of a plan.

Not to sound like a broken record, but...

Teams knew that there were legitimate concerns about AB. Ergo, there was a valid reason that the Raiders deal was the best offer that the Steelers could have gotten.

I guess if you look at it as: the 3 and 5 the Raiders gave up is a small price to pay for the output of a guy that should garner two first round picks...therefore it’s a small gamble and if the Raiders knew the whole time that if AB went sideways, they have the “contract thing” in their back pocket to get out from under him...it’s a low risk, high reward play?

But if the Raiders knew this was the route they could take and it indeed does go this way, it wasn’t a terribly bad play on their part to take that gamble.

If he’s released and decides to play with another team at some point, there will be teams lining up for his services.

Teams with a coach & GM with job security if a high profile signing blows up will be lining up to pay him with no or minimal guaranteed $$$

That is a much shorter list headed up by the Evil Empire in Foxboro
