Steelers Vs Chiefs Missed Tackles Report

After a rough first showing in the tackling department in the first week of the preseason against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Pittsburgh Steelers really cleaned it up in Week 2 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Pittsburgh’s starting defensive unit missed just one tackle, and that came when Bud Dupree shot into the backfield off of the edge and just missed bringing down rookie Darwin Thompson for a tackle for loss.

Aside from Dupree’s miss, no player projected to be a starter missed a tackle in extended action, which is a great sign of things to come moving forward.

However, Pittsburgh missed two tackles on special teams, and two defensive backs fighting for rosters spots in PJ Locke and Brian Allen had rough nights.

Let’s take a look at the Week 2 missed tackles report.

Week 2 missed tackles report vs. Chiefs — 6

    Brian Allen – 2
    PJ Locke – 1
    Bud Dupree – 1
Robert Spillane – 1 (special teams)
Justin Layne – 1 (special teams)

Total missed tackles through 2 weeks — 15 (7.5 per game)

Justin Layne – 3 (one on special teams)
    Brian Allen – 2
    Mark Barron – 1
    Tyson Alualu – 1
Ola Adeniyi – 1 (missed sack)
    Greg Gilmore – 1
    Terrell Edmunds – 1
    Jordan Dangerfield – 1
    Dravon Askew-Henry – 1
    Bud Dupree – 1
    PJ Locke – 1
Robert Spillane – 1 (special teams)

Through two games last preseason the Steelers missed 37 tackles, including a season-high 19 against the Green Bay Packers in Week 2 of the 2018 preseason. So, based on the numbers for 2019’s preseason through two games, the Steelers are off to one heck of a start in the missed tackles department.

I don't know why they continue to carry this guy! If he was going to get it, the light would've already come on.
