Too. Many. Penalties.

That’s the way you can sum up the year the Pittsburgh Steelers had on special teams in 2018. Well, that, and Chris Boswell forcing you to close your eyes every time he lined up to kick.

No team had more special teams penalties than the Steelers’ 27 of them in 2018. And they happened for a variety of reasons. But a persistent one were illegal blocks. Pittsburgh was flagged four times for blocks above the waist/blindside blocks on the punt return team last season, a frustratingly high amount.

Like this one called on Tyler Matakevich versus Denver. A bad decision to push the Broncos’ player from behind, drawing the flag.

I'll wait to see if that's going to be the case in the regular season, but if it does, it would have taken only 7 long years before Danny Smith taught this to his players!

This is one thing that was so easy to fix, if you can not see their number on the front of their jerseys do touch them and find the next guy to block, easy enough.

Yeah, that would fix the problem if Danny Smith would retire or leave .... Last year it was probably our worst year in the special team since Danny Smith is with us especially for the FG (to be honest, it was Boswell's fault) and also for the penalties on the return(Smith deserve a lot of blame for that)

Danny Smith is treated as a legend for no reason by the steelers

This guy is CONSTANTLY blowing Danny Smith...lol. He hasn’t fixed anything. This penalties still will pop up this season...no,doubt.

If we look at the picture to the right of this tweet, since 2013 the steelers have very average in the special team with Danny Smith ... Last year it was awful too.
