Having had friends and close family members who have had the same surgery - thankfully, this is not one with any huge variables or unexpected negative outcomes. They basically just clean up damaged cartilage and wait for the stuff around it to heal, then you're back to normal. 1-2 weeks is the time for the incision to heal and not risk tearing open again.

It's not like ligaments, muscles, bones and things where it might take a couple weeks or it might be all season, and you might not be the same. Maybe you wouldn't want to go skiing on that knee afterward, but that's about it.
