The 2005 Steelers were a 15-1 team the year prior, and likely would've won 13 or more games. They lost not only Ben for a couple games, but they lost Charlie Batch too and were forced to play Turnover Tommy Maddox for two games.
People really undersell just how good that 2005 team was. 2008? Makes sense, but 2005 belongs up there. At least in the 30's-40's.
I Agree ... With Ben, the steelers had been 27-4 including the playoffs in 2004 and 2005 .... The difference is that the steelers had their peak in 2004 in mid-season and 2005, they had their peak at the right time...
I always thought, it was the top 2 teams in the Roethlisberger era if we look at how they performed and their teams had very little weakness.Only one loss on the road in his two seasons with Ben as QB too!
Beating the 84 49ers with the roster Noll had was crazy. A bunch of nobodies
2004 Steelers is missing. Also the 1978 Steelers being only 13 is a total joke and behind the 2013 Seahawks? Must be on drugs. Defense surrendered less than 200 points even after the rule changes to slow them down, they had Bradshaw as NFL MVP, the Steelers outscored their 2 playoff opponents 67-15, and then they went up 35-17 against the Cowboys late in the 4th quarter before the Cowboys added 2 touchdowns at the end to make it closer. 78 Steelers is a top 5 all-time team
The 2013 seahawks are overrated because of one game .... Probably the best season in the NFL in this decade, but remember in the NFC title game against the 49ers they were behind at one point in the fourth quarter ... Ahead of the 1978 steelers? .... PLEASE!
I'd like to see the 7 teams that are going to beat that Steelers team... No way.

Three 49 teams before the first Steeler team??? Laughable.
No the 94 49ers don't belong in that conversation. Dominant yes, but not top 5. I'd put the 91 Redskins before them, 14-2, beat their opponents by an average of over 16 points per game, outscored their opponents 102-41 in the postseason (would have been more had they not surrendered some garbage time TDs in the Super Bowl). It's mystifying that team never gets the credit for being a truly dominant team
Rypien went to my grade school, Jr. High, and High School. Of course, he was a senior in high school when I was in 3rd grade, but he's definitely a hometown boy for me. And yes, I watched him play highschool football. Never would have thought we were watching an NFL quality QB. (Not because he was bad but just how often do you watch future NFLers?)
