Good pickup of blitz by the offense or poor job of getting to the QB on the blitz. Its a tough cover for a LB if a play is gonna last that long and not get to the QB.
OK. I figured I was likely wrong. I do wonder if the safety (Edmunds?) on the near side of the play would abandon his "hesitation" and kind of not pass rush and not totally covering the flat and just press home to the QB in a regular season game? Looked like he had a clear rush lane, but was concerned about his contain/coverage responsibilities. Wonder if this was "live" if a more aggressive decision would have been made?

Likely not describing what I am "seeing" correctly!

If its "man coverage" Edmunds would have responsibility of the RB to his side of the QB. looks like he is coming up and spying in the event the RB released into the flat and trying to stay away from the WR crossing in front of him. Defense was already rushing 2 outside to that side, so if the RB releases and Edmunds also blitzes, its an easy toss to the RB.

In the end, the defense blitzed and played man on the goal line for coverage. not a big deal IMO and a pretty common philosophy. Now if it was on the offensive 40 yard line, then maybe its not a good matchup, but backed up against your own goal post, send em and ask your fast ILB to cover the slot WR is not problem.
