See how simple that is? Doesn't even require anyone lying to Congress. Just being dramatic and playing up certain angles as more important than they really are. You ought to be very familiar with this; you do it all the time, it's like your bread and butter. Like, even just the way you repeatedly hammer on "Lying To Congress" (caps intentional), as if by saying it enough, it will be so shocking that you can wrestle the narrative over to the other side being crazy and they have the burden of proving that they are not. It's a real nice try, but just more weasel words. And Wray is still just a partisan hack playing in partisan political theater.
Now let's think about why a guy like Wray would be inclined to suck up to the Democrats and their single unifying theory that the white supremacist boogeyman is behind everything. Well, does he like being FBI director, or not? If so, it's not a great idea to publicly say that your boss is full of shit, and basically the same to the people running the hearings. Democrats want people to think that right-wing extremists are the biggest threat in the world, so they got a guy to say that right-wing extremists are the biggest threat. Very straightforward.
It's certainly way more rational than your crackpot conspiracy theories about actual white supremacists running around everywhere. A real red-alert threat, always just an inch away from destroying us all, but miraculously we never even get a whiff of it. Rats, foiled again, huh?
Now why would the left want to say such a thing, and insist on pushing it in our faces, if it wasn't the truth? Ah, that's right, they've been saying for a long time that conservative ideas are dishonorable - now they want to say they are dangerous. Make it official, just lump it all in with white supremacists, and you can go after anyone you want who is not in compliance with liberal doctrine. I mean, you don't even have to do anything legally or officially to get the effect that you want. If the grandstanding is enough to fire up the cancel culture liberal hate mob, then you've already succeeded in ostracizing your opponents and making them more hesitant to speak up about anything. Political theater.
It is easy to understand the appeal of a cult that tells you that you are smarter than everyone else, and that all the problems in the world are just because all the stupids won't listen to you. That if you fail, it's ok because it's someone else's fault, and they deserve to pay. That jealousy and spite are ok, and that it's fine to hate people and want revenge on them. That you're justified in doing almost anything in order to get what you want. That you are special and the world owes you something. An appeal to all of your most base desires, and all that's demanded in return is adherence. As long as there are enough members who are all in it together, they have a safe space and they will go to extreme lengths to defend it - even if it means twisting logic and standing reality on its head. You defend your safe space more viciously than almost anyone I have seen. But then, liberals aren't exactly the sharpest knives in the drawer.
