That’s just hilarious. Goes to my biggest gripe about this administration. They’re just aggressively incompetent. They keep wording executive orders in a manner that forces courts to strike them down. Like, you don’t have lawyers? The wall falls over. You had a majority in Congress and did basically nothing with it. Still have one in the Senate and can’t seem to do much with that either. It’s not even that I disagree with the policies that much. It’s the fundamental inability to conduct the business of government without stepping on their own dicks that’s just offensive.

Your beliefs and attitudes seem to be stuck in this libs vs cons argument. Conservative info= correct. Liberal info=lies. I personally consider myself to be more of a centrist, but I know that my beliefs of fiscal and economic policy are more Conservative. I know that Trump is a liar, cheat and opportunist, not a Republican. That is why many prominent Republicans will not endorse him.

As for HEK293T used by Regeneron in the drug cocktail given to Trump. HEK stands for Human Embryonic Kidney. The HEK cell line was derived from the kidney of a human embryo in the Netherlands in the 1970's. There are many variations of HEK in use in labs world wide today and they are combined with other genes for their particular uses.

I dont think that scientists need to derive HEK from new donors all the time to create it, as I believe the HEK cells can be grown in labs, but the fact remains that HEK cells come from a Human Embryonic Kidney, whether its grown from cells that originated from 1970, or other cells taken from an embryo.

That's the "dodge" that I have been reading as well. Is that since the 293T cell line has been around for so long and the reason it is so widely used is that it grows really well in a lab setting (not all cell lines do) therefore it is not seen as fetal tissue because the original fetal component was from the 1970's.

HOWEVER...and this is where it gets a little bit of what do you want to see on this issue...if the bans and checks on fetal tissue research that the current administration has enacted and favors were in place in the 1970's and 1980's...293T cell line would never have been developed and not available for the incredibly widespread lab usage it sees today. So whether you grow a batch of 293T in a lab and it is X removes from the original fetal cells or whatever, the existence of the cell line itself is a down the line result of using fetal tissue in scientific research.
