And what name did I call anyone? Didn't make claims that you or anyone else was some rabid racist or screaming bigot. Just pointed out that some of you all really seem to come out hard against the black guy that was president and minorities. I don't think it is because anyone here is filled with hate or instinctual dislike of a specific group of people. I just think that far too many have gone way too far down the internet echo chamber rabbit hole and before you know it people of color, women, and others are the most frequent and sometime only targets for complaints.
Like I said before, why is it that the small # of women of color in the Congressional Progressive caucus get slammed daily on the right wing internet (or at least the parts that leak into the larger consciousness) but the 90 some odd other members of the exact same caucus -- hardly hear anything about them...
...groups of largely white people have been saying anarchist/socialist/marxist stuff for decades. Soon as minorities and those words can be connected there is a MASSIVE freakout...I mean people got moderately upset at the Seattle WTO protests and Occupy Wall Street...but nothing like how freaked out/angry/scared/and willing to call for violence people have been this summer. Only difference is the visual appearances of the protestors...
Did you read the materials that were posted or just the breathless frantic summary of them? Because there is more than a bit of difference between the two sets of documents.
Plus, if people were daily posting the more extreme and lunatic fringe elements of the far left with no supporting facts, evidence, or tangible relationship to actual reality -- I'd clown on that as well.
My biggest objection here is that several posters regularly attempt to support a particular position with "evidence" that is just other people saying that same thing as them. Proving that other individuals agree with you is not really doing anything. At least come with some charts, graphs, and facts. Random people with no standing that rant on YouTube and post it is not significant support for anything. As you have correctly pointed out, we can find lots of people saying lots of goofy loony things on the internet.
The use of social media and people with no support for their opinions other than an internet platform to scream them into the larger consciousness is why we are still dealing with a pandemic, why people are struggling to reset the economy, and why most children will end up not in actual school sooner rather than later. And I simply have no patience anymore for any of it. Read a damn book. Actually try and learn something. Try and consider why people think differently on the issue(s) under consideration rather than just assume everyone involved is an idiot.
Plus, I mostly figure if most people here can just post any fool thing they want with no consideration for whether or not its crazy-pants -- why can't I?
