2019 Steelers No SIM Mock Draft 1.0

Roughly 4 weeks to draft day 1 so here is my first feeble attempt at a mock draft without a SIM.

Mullen’s size is intriguing. I’ve oegged him as “one to watch” fir a while now. Thatcsaid, I’m not familiar with his actual play. For example, Murphy has the game tape.

Ridley has been paired with the Steelers quite often. I wonder why that is.

I absolutely love Winovich and Long in R3... because, my thinking is they’ll go in R1 & R2.

I am only mocking off of visits and pro days. Although Mike Bell is a ‘darkhorse, who’s that’ player instead.

I have been thinking AJ Brown but think he will be gone when the Steelers take a WR. I still believe WR will be in rounds 2or3. Ridley is another AJ Brown/JuJu type IMO and more likely to fall into that range maybe.

Mullen is intriguing. The whole gang showed up for Clemson’s pro day. Who else are the #20 candidates that you feel could be there at 20? Do they go DL/edge there? Same with LSU. At 20 there may be White or Greedy. Of the group I see Mullen as most likely.

Winovich and Long are in play in the 1st as well. The list of possibles at 20 this draft is about 50 players long.

How about an all “blue & gold” draft?

    Bush, Winovich, Long from Michigan
Long, Sills, Cajuste, Wesco from WVU

...and, someone in charge of timeouts from UCSD.

I think I'm getting closer to your ALL MICHIGAN MOCK idea more and more.

RD1 ILB Devin Bush - Michigan (Pro Day)
RD2 OLB Chase Winovich - Michigan (Pro Day / Combine)
    RD3 S Darnell Savage - Maryland (Visitor)
RD3 WR Riley Ridley - UGA (Pro Day / Combine)
RD4 CB David Long - Michigan (Pro Day)
    RD5 LB Ben Burr-Kirven - Washington (Visitor)
RD6 TE Caleb Wilson - UCLA
RD6 WR David Sills - WV
RD6 OT Mitch Hyatt - Clemson
RD7 RB Travis Homer - Miami (Vistior)

I read somewhere that over the past ten or so years we average about 3 Visitors drafted per draft.

Absolutely, they do... especially in R1.

    http://www.thepointofpittsburgh.com/...015-nfl-draft/

Since then... Dupree, Burns, Watt all had dinner with Tomlin. Which is why I’m prepping myself for Chase Winovich to be selected at 20.

NOTE: For those very reasons, you should add Garrett Brumfield, OG, LSU to R7 of your mock.

4th and final No SIM Mock Draft

    1. Brian Burns Edge FSU - Burns falls into the Steelers lap and we get the best fit at OLB to play opposite TJ Watt.
    2. Justin Layne CB Mich State - Layne has Steeler CB written all over him.
3a. Darnell Savage Safety Maryland - Savage makes it to pick 66 and the Steelers upgrade the safety position.
3b. Germaine Pratt ILB NC State - Pratt fills a need at ILB and then some.
    4. Miles Boykin WR Notre Dame - All the skills and now he has a great QB throwing him the ball.
    5. Alize Mack TE Notre Dame - Mack is a VMac/Grimble clone and fits the TE room perfectly.
6a. Mitch Hyatt OT Clemson - Tackle is a need and Hyatt is a monster.
6b. LJ Scott RB Mich State - Scott meets the size and production requirement for a Steeler RB.
6c. Kendall Sheffield CB OSU - Steelers double dip at CB and get the very fast Sheffield.
    7. Cole Tracy K LSU - Tracy may be the best kicker in the draft. If still on the board this is the pick.

Savage in R3 would be a great pick (because, I doubt he’s there at 52).

Sheffield could be an even better value. At one point, he was considered a “late Day 1/early Day 2” pick. He had a bad tear, but if he returns to90-% of what he was, that is a steal for a R6 pick.

Oh... and Burns. He had 69 pressures (albeit not a great number of sacks). I’d rather have a guy who consistently gets pressure (as opposed to a few sacks here & there).

pressure = rushed passes = incompletions (or, turnovers)

I hope more that I get the correct names than the right order or round. I think this list improves the Steelers right away.
