First round favorites at pick 20

Post your pick 20 hopefuls. Players you would be good with if the Steelers drafted them at 20. Go by position group, or do a top 10, or just a list of names. I would like to get some post combine draft discussion going.

I think CB is the most glaring position of need. There are a few guys I could be happy with drafting at 20 from this group.
Greedy: I doubt he will be there but...
Baker: A bit older than the usual Steelers 1st pick but I really like this CB.
Murphy: Back home they call him slim. But he’s from CB university. Worth a chance.
Rock: Not power5 but a big CB that plays the ball well.

Hoping Devin Bush somehow didn't run out of the Steelers reach at 20

Bush. No cornerbacks. I’d rather a WR than another CB bust.

Which WRs do you see taking at 20? I think Metcalf, AJ Brown, Deebo, Harmon, Harry, and Hollywood all have a chance to go 1st round. Maybe even Ridley and Hakeem in that group.

I agree that ILB and CB are our 2 biggest needs right now. What if those 4 guys are already gone? Trade back or somebody else worthy of the pick?

I'd be happy with Metcalf or either Iowa TE over a CB.

The problem is the top positions of need are wr, ilb, olb, cb in no particular order. It seems like with all those positions in the 1st you'll have guys likely to be gone, guys not good enough for pick 20, or guys with character problems who would be bad for the locker room (deandre baker, jachai polite). Pick 20 is a very bad spot for them. They should trade down or trade up

    Hockenson, if he's gone Fant.

I think I'd take Chase Winovich in R2 also like Sione Takitaki in maybe R4

Re: First round favorites at pick 20

I think you have to be more open minded to the first round than ‘it’s either one of these guys or trade back’. Sure there are players at positions that make the most sense but there are players that make sense at other positions as well. Position of need and game changing talent should both be the goal, together or individually.

    Position of need? vs BPA
DL- Not a need vs Quinnon
OLB- Not an immediate need vs Bosa/Josh Allen
    ILB- Need
Safety- Not an immediate need vs Abram
    CB- Need (Maybe twice)

OL- Not immediate need vs Bradbury
    TE- Need
    WR- Need
QB- Not a need vs Haskins
RB- Not an immediate need vs Jacobs

Obviously some names don’t move the needle as much but some names make you have to consider them. Even if just upgrading an already stout position.

BPA is the only formula that has paid off for the Steelers over the years. The team needs more playmakers - period.

LB - Vontae Mack no matter what

QB - Bo Callahan didn't have any of his team mates come to his birthday party, and I don't believe Coach Moore.

Plus we don't need RB - Ray Jennings, we have James Connor and can get a back RB later in the draft.

Maybe if we can trade AB to that pan cake eating mfer in Oakland we'll be able to get a CB at 24 or 27 too.

Leaning hard toward Devin Bush, Deandre Baker, WR, or a dropping edge player as the most likely picks.

That sounds hard to argue with

do you think the Steelers will think twice about drafting Devin Bush since Drew Rosenhaus is his agent?

He probably won’t be there anyway.

Another name I will toss out, Jonathan Abram safety Mississippi State. I know from what I've read he is another SS/Dime linebacker type we already have but he seems like a good cover guy, interviewed very well, and has an alpha dog demeanor

My question is does a DB come in and start over anyone on the roster currently? I think that should be a consideration at pick 20. Adding a player that will be the future after someone retires is a bigger gamble than the draft is already IMO.

I think that he’d be the dime ‘backer that Burnett was “supposed” to be.

Devin Bush if he's there; if not, either of the Iowa TEs. If they're all three gone... trade down! Although if a guy like Oliver slid, I'd OK with taking him too.

    Hockenson.

Bosa, but there is no way he lasts until 20. If he is there at 20 something big must have happened.

Best if they don't trade up
    1. Hope somehow Bush, Hock, Ferrell, or even Sweat (if heart condition is good) somehow slip
    2. Jonathan Abram
    3. Trade down
