    Todd Gurley - Knee Arthritis?

At the combine this week Sean McVay was being sketchy on the treatment of Todd Gurley's late season knee injury

Rams coach Sean McVay was asked about the possibility of a stem cell procedure during a one-on-one interview with CBSSports.com at the NFL combine on Thursday and denied it, but he did say that the team is looking at "new methods" to help Gurley with his ailing knee.

"As far as the stem cells, that's not something that's been communicated to me, but there is a program," McVay said. "We've got these doctors and there's always new methods of staying as up-to-date as you can, and number one, the player has to feel good about it. Todd does such a good job of doing his own research and knowing what are the things [he] can do."

Might be a good reason for that

Jeff Howe of TheAthletic.com reports that Gurley has arthritis in the knee.

It’s the same knee that underwent an ACL repair in 2014. If the report is accurate, what will the Rams do about it? Coach Sean McVay discussed stem-cell treatment options for the knee this week at the Scouting Combine. If Gurley has arthritis that comes from a loss of cartilage, microfracture surgery presumably would be a possibility. However, the Rams have said that Gurley won’t have surgery.

The good news for Gurley, but the bad news for the Rams, is that Gurley’s contract gives him a high degree of financial security. As of the third day of the 2019 league year, he’ll have $34.5 million fully guaranteed and another $9.5 million still guaranteed for injury.

Rams decision last summer to give Gurley an unprecedented deal for a RB with two yeras left on his rookie deal looking increasingly risky.

But teams by all means should have no worries about giving Le'Veon at least as good a payday
