Fix the weak portion of the team starting with coaching.

    And not just this year

In the playoff loss to the Patriots, the Chiefs were gashed for 176 rushing yards. It marked the third straight postseason exit — all at Arrowhead Stadium — in which a better seeded Chiefs team lost to an opponent that effectively ran the ball.

The Steelers’ LeVeon Bell rushed for 170 yards in a divisional-round game in 2017, and the Titans’ Derrick Henry rushed for 156 in a 2018 wild-card game.

    Yikes

In addition to Rex Ryan, linked article says DC candidates rumored to include former Rams HC Steve Spagnuolo, who was with Reid in Philly, and Cowboys DB coach/former Seahawks DC Kris Richard

Patriots had 90something offensive snaps in that game. Give Bill and Brady that many snaps and they will beat you 99 of 100. KC still took it to OT. KC has a great future if they can stay focused. I didn’t trust the Mahomes hype out of college. I believe it now.

I could see spagnuolo way befor Rex Ryan. I don’t feel like Ryan and Reid have a chemistry...

wouldn't it be cool if Tomlin acted so decisively?

He'll at least make the Chiefs defense good. Plus he has had experience beating the Patriots

Not much decisive about it. Chiefs defense has been even worse than that of the Steelers for several years before this season and local KC reporters have been busting on Reid for not getting rid of Sutton earlier just like they have been busting on Tomlin for not firing Butler. This from one KC reporter.

Who, or what, do you blame most for the loss last night?

    1. Bob Sutton. This one is pretty self-explanatory, and I hope you read the column I wrote Monday calling for him to be fired. I promise I didn’t just re-post the column last year calling for him to be fired.

Sutton did have some bright moments this season, but in the end the Chiefs lost as the Patriots seemingly took whatever they wanted on offense. A generational quarterback stood on the sidelines in overtime, helpless, as the Chiefs offered zero resistance on a touchdown we all saw coming.

Over the season, there were times Sutton was being blamed for failures outside of his control, and a muscle memory developed where many fans blamed him even while the defense played well enough, but he should be here at the top of the list with Andy Reid as his accomplice for not making the decision a year ago.

But credit to Reid for finally acknowledging that the Chiefs need to maximize having Mahomes on his rookie deal, now that Mahomes has shown how good he is, by trying to fix that defense ASAP before Mahomes blows up their cap when he comes off his rookie deal.
