Patriots v Rams
It's too bad I can't find a clip of that old Conan skit where he was making fun of the Angels changing their name to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim to appeal to a broader fan base ... "So in a move to appeal to the largest possible fan base, the L.A. Rams have also changed their name to: The Earth Rams."
Like, since almost everyone on earth hates the Patriots, for the next 2 weeks they are literally the Earth Rams. It actually happened.
See you Space Cowboy ...
Will not be watching
I know the contention is any sport benefits by having a dominant team that attracts casual fans to root for or against it.
But while acknowledging the greatness of the Pats accomplishments I am burned out on repeatedly watching games primarily with the hope a team loses and have nothing close to a positive rooting interest in the Rams (FWIW I enjoy watching Mahomes play and was hoping the long suffering KC fan base, which has some admirable similarities to the Steelers fan base, would have celebrated a win Sunday)
Ratings for Pats-Chiefs were up from last season for late conference championship game while Rams-Saints for early game were down

Will be interesting to see how ratings go for the Super Bowl with a team most fans dislike and another for which most fans are indifferent

Aqib Talib has been the Taperiots killer. The healthier that he is, the more likely it is that the Rams win.
LA absolutely on fire with excitement about the Rams drive to the Super Bowl
Everything I’m hearing is how Belichick will dismantle the Rams offense. (“The Rams don’t stand a chance.”)
Okay. Maybe. But, Sean McVay is no Darrell Bevell.
Meanwhile, Brady’s Achilles heel is pressure up the middle. And, last time that I checked, the best interior-pass-rusher in the NFL plays for the Rams.
SUMMATION:
The Taperiots are going to have to commit to stopping Donald. Duh. It’s what Belichick does: take away your best player. That said, as I’ve already mentioned, the healthier that Talib is, the more that the Rams defense can play man... which leaves an extra defender available to pass-rush. Couple that with an extra lineman needed to stop Donald, and voila! the Rams will get pressure on Brady.
The Rams are the better team, however the Pats have more experience which I think wins out in the end. I think Brady is undefeated against QBs at least 15 years younger than he is
Coaching wise we got a great matchup, the young up and coming football guru vs the grandmaster

Wonder if Saints fans are going to start treating the Rams like Seasquawk fans treat the Steelers? Wonder if they still won't let it go after over a decade?
The more demented of the Seahawks fans were convinced the league "wanted" the Steelers & Bettis to win in his final game and the sketchy calls were to take care of the fix.
IMO Saints fans will just not forgive the refs for the screwup last Sunday like we will always blame Al Riveron for the Pats loss in 2017 despite the home team screwups that went into those losses.
As evidenced by more people in LA watching Chiefs-Pats than their carpetbagging home team versus the Saints last weekend few care enough about the current Rams to make them worth holding a grudge agsinst.

Pittsburgh TV station introduces Tom Brady as ‘Known Cheater’ on Super Bowl media night
Since they don't like the Rams either, Squawks fans are pissing and moaning almost as much as Saints fans about this too, along with their usual nonstop bitching about XL and all things "Stealers":

Wow, what a shocker
I loved this comment
Never mind all the calls that benefited Seattle at home over this past decade (which they'll never admit to)The most annoying thing is that if it were the Seahawks who benefited, the league would have come out right away saying they were considering a rule change.
Albeit to be fair, Goodell does deserve widespread criticism for his silence on the issue
I laughed a lot at this.

Oh man, I just got word that because Tom Brady is trying to make history, if you don't watch the Super Bowl, it's considered homophobic and your career is ruined.
I am wondering, if you just watch 4 hours of gay porn instead, does that count enough to get you off the hook? I hate not having a definitive answer; this is a tough call.

I can't remember where I posted this, but it wasn't in the SB thread. So I will repeat myself, which I was going to do anyways...
I think the Pats will break out a Bill Parcells style game plan with Sony Michel in the Otis Anderson role. Billy B will just add one modern twist -- instead of milking the clock, they are going to run a crap ton of plays on offense and run the ball out of 2 TE sets. That should both slow the pass rush down with actual blockers and eventually just gas Donald, Suh, and Fowler. Then the Pats will try and hit play action to Edelman and Gronk out of it. It is essentially the same thing they did to KC.
I have no idea what they are going to do on defense. Not that smart.
