I wouldn't put Patriots post 2000 on toilet paper much less on a list of great SB teams.

The 1995 49ers belong on the list, that team was near unbeatable

This. That team destroyed everyone including a two time defending champion Cowboys team that was pretty good. I would have to put them as the best team all time with the 1985 Bears right behind them.

    1) 1994 Niners (so glad SD upset us in the AFC Title game so we didn't get rolled in the Superbowl).
    2) 1985 Bears - That defense was unbeatable.
    3) 2013 Seahawks - Like the 85 Bears that defense was amazing and Russell Wilson was good enough to win.
    4) 1992 Cowboys - Their offensive line were monsters.
    5) 1993 Cowboys - See above.
    6) 2008 Steelers - Great defense, clutch 4th quarter drive by Roethlisberger.
    7) 1979 Steelers - Great defense and probably our best offense ever.
    8) 1989 49ers - 14-2 loaded team.
    9) 1975 Steelers - The Steel curtain at its best.
    10) 1972 Dolphins - Have to at least include the only undefeated team in history (plus they won with a back QB).

I know everyone is all ga-ga about the '85 Bears defense, but check out this per game comparison:

    Points allowed: '85 Bears: 12.4 '76 Steelers 9.9
    First downs allowed: '85 Bears: 14.8 '76 Steelers 13.0
    Total yards allowed: '85 Bears: 258.4 '76 Steelers 237.3
    Rushing yards allowed: '85 Bears: 82.4 '76 Steelers 104.0
    Passing yards allowed: '85 Bears: 176.0 '76 Steelers: 133.2

Well, the '76 Steelers didn't win a championship, so they're not on that list, although I'm pretty sure they're at or near the top of most people's list for best defense of all time.

I don't understand why nobody ever talks about the '84 49ers as a candidate for best Super Bowl champion. They went 15-1 also, came within a missed FG (off the upright) of being 16-0, and beat the dogshit out of the '84 Bears, who were basically the exact same team as the '85 Bears, in the conference championship. They didn't meet in the '85 playoffs, or who knows if this might have been a completely different conversation.

Everyone thinks about nothing except Joe Montana when that team comes up, but they also had the #1 scoring defense that year, and all four DBs in the Pro Bowl including Ronnie Lott. IMO the '88-'89 offense and the '94 offense were more dominant, but those teams were a lot more one-dimensional. I don't think you can consider any of the '90s SF teams seriously for "best ever," because they had one major rival who clearly won the head-to-head battle over several seasons, even if it was not by much.

You're right, the '84 49ers team should be in that discussion. As to why they're not, perhaps because they exposed Miami as a one-dimensional team. Going into that game, Miami was getting a lot of publicity for being unstoppable because of Marino and their passing offense. Also, that 49ers team didn't have Jerry Rice yet. Having the greatest wide receiver of all-time lends more credence to other 49ers teams as perhaps being better. Just theories on my part.

Re: What would be your top 10 Super Bowl teams of all-time?

The '84 Niners were overshadowed by the Dolphins that year. Marino got all the press but Montana tore them apart in the Super Bowl. That team had a scary backfield of Wendell Tyler and Roger Craig (playing FB). Tyler was decent but teamed w/Craig they were very good.

Except they lost to some Tom Selleck lookalike scrub QB named Mark Malone and a no name Steelers defense who didn't allow a passing TD in that game.
