Week 17 - Steelers vs. Bengals

Interesting that the studio pre-game show is focusing more on how Tomlin and the Steelers have under-achieved instead of focusing on what the Ravens have done to put themselves in the driver’s seat.
The panel, Coach Cowher included, all took shots at the coaching shortcomings we discuss regularly.
Esiason was especially tough on Tomlin.

Yes, but Tomlin is the most winning coach in the NFL.

It helps to be in a completely uncompetitive division.

Could be because actual analysis requires work and insight. Pulling out coach speak cliches and platitudes allows you to get highly paid for doing very little work.

The truth, as always, lies in some sorta middle ground. But that's not interesting TV, So guess what gets said?

It wasn’t all coach speak and cliches.
You must realize all of those talking heads watch a lot of tape, right..it’s their job.
They saw and identified what many of us have seen regarding coaching deficiencies.
Cowher emphasized how difficult it is to get your team up for games they should win....hmmm...a problem in these parts.
Yeah, I know, on any given Sunday anybody can beat anybody.
But the reality is there are games that a team SHOULD win.

Eli into it early with a nice catch. Steelers follow that up with a poorly executed reverse.

Week 17 - Steelers vs. Bengals

Ugh...another subpar first drive...followed up by — SURPRISE — Special Teams Penalty!!!!

Now will the defense make Driskell look like an All-Pro?

I think it has once or twice...but that’s probably 5% success rate? Lol

We are pretty bad at the 4th-and-1 fakeout. Have we ever fooled anyone with that ever?

Don't you know? Tomlin cannot be at fault for anything. It is always the fault of someone else.

For example, being ill-prepared for a game is the fault of the punter.

It'd be nice if I didn't have to read all this pro/ anti Tomlin stuff in the game day thread.
