Sometimes a coach sees something in a player that he thinks he can develop. It's not like he's got anything to lose. My bet is Gruden wants to see if Peterman can be developed into a reasonable back up and then he can trade AJ McCarron who can be a starter for a number of teams and see how much talent he can get in exchange. Peterman is only in his second year. It's a no risk experiment
Gruden needs a drug test.
