    Ha! Jags are terrible again.

They will still find a way to beat the Steelers. That team just seems to have their number.

I thought Raiders vs Steelers would get flexed first?

At least it's late in the season where the heat won't be a factor. Early season games at JAX usually = lose

First Call: Jaguars bummed over Steelers game-time flex

    Jaguars bummed

While many in Pittsburgh are happy that the Steelers don't have to play another prime time game, it was kind of a big deal in Jacksonville.

The Jags don't get a lot of prime time dates. And coming off a season where they wound up in the AFC Championship game last year, the players and fan base were looking forward to the publicity.

Well, so much for that. Next Sunday's game against the Steelers got flexed to a 1 p.m. kickoff in favor of Vikings vs. Bears.

"Feel very disrespected at times, but at the same time, we didn't earn it. We didn't earn it at all," defensive end Calais Campbell said via Jacksonville.com. "They want to see teams that they feel like are going to be contenders. And honestly, we have to earn that right again."

Defensive tackle Abry Jones added, "It's a results league, and we ain't got the results."

Head coach Doug Marrone changed the Jaguars' schedule coming out of their bye week. They desire to be more closely aligned with playing at 1 p.m. So he changed when the team practices and eats. In Marrone's words, he hoped to get the players' "body clocks right."

2018 Jacksonville is like last years Steelers. More talking and less doing. Jalen Ramsey talked a boatload of shit in the offseason and made himself a target. So far he hasn’t acquitted himself well.

That said, they’ll still be a tough opponent for the Steelers. Jax is one of those teams where the stupidest most improbable shit seems to happen against the Steelers. Hopefully they can break the Hex this season.

At least the 2017 steelers had a very good regular season!

This is not the case for the jaguars this year.

But last Thursday they still had the Bucs vs SF on. And then last night's Tennessee vs Dallas ...

Horrible horrible prime time use. I wish they would just get rid of Thursday night football.

Agree with all of you that Thursday night games should be removed. But they're not flexible. Every team is playing one during the season.

Fox and ESPN are stuck with the Thursday and Monday schedules

The supposed explanation for ESPN paying more for a Monday night schedule that cannot be flexed than NBC pays for a Sunday night schedule that is always better even before flexing out of the dog games is that ESPN does not want another broadcaster (or someday streaming service) to get those games and is in part paying for using so much NFL video on its non-live sports programming

Fox is losing even more $$$ on Thursday night than CBS & NBC did but supposedly sees the NFL as a means of shaking down its affiliates and cable/satellite distributors

Fox Broadcasting’s five-year deal for television rights to National Football League.... is valued at $3.3 billion....

RBC Capital Markets analyst Steven Cahall said in a report that Fox is likely to lose about $360 million a year on the Thursday package. He estimated that CBS and NBC combined were losing roughly $200 million.

Still, Mr. Cahall said the “play here is strategic” as Fox moves away from entertainment programming yet tries to maintain a strong position to negotiate carriage fees from pay-TV distributors and its broadcast affiliates...

Both Comcast Corp.’s NBC and CBS , a unit of CBS Corp., made bids to keep the package; however, CBS’s offer was less than the $225 million it paid last year while NBC’s bid was flat, people with knowledge of the situation said.

So when Ben wonders why those games are being played on Thursdays there are 3.3 billion reasons

Yep - that is my response to every player who complains about the Thursday games - say you are willing to take a haircut on your salary that matches up as a % of the lost revenue and then you have a compelling argument to scrap Thursday night
