2018 Steelers Rookie Minicamp Tryouts: What You Need To Know

Rookie minicamp begins this afternoon for the Pittsburgh Steelers. There’s around 50 players in attendance. You know a chunk of the names already. All seven draft picks, all 13 UDFAs, and select players on futures deals are in attendance. But there are also 20 tryout players vying to nab a roster spot and make their way into training camp.

Another potential slot WR that could end up on the practice squad.

The OG from UNC is big, but not athletic and another camp body that his best hope is practice squad.

As far as I can tell, the competition for the 4th (5th?) receiver job is wide open, so who knows, maybe that guy even has a chance, especially if there's an injury or some other problem.

And another project for Munchak, hard to see any downside in giving him a year or two on the PS and see if he gets anywhere. Might save us a draft pick one day, if not it didn't cost us anything.

I was surprised to see Prince hadn’t signed anywhere as a free agent. I had him as a fifth-rounder.

They also brought Price in for a pre draft visit.

(Which is a little odd now knowing they used a visit for a tryout player)
    1. Amarius Mims, OT, Georgia 2. Zach Frazier, C, West Virginia 3. Roman Wilson, WR, Michigan 3. Renardo Green, CB, FSU 4. Mo Kamara, OLB, Colorado State 6. Logan Lee, DT, Iowa 6.Khristian Boyd, NT, Northern Iowa

Now that Prince has signed with the Steelers, I wonder how he is going to celebrate?

The entire rookie class has a chip on their shoulder. One said he had a chip on his shoulder his whole life.

Marcus Allen comes to the Steelers with a giant chip on his shoulder

The second of the two Steelers safeties in the 2018 draft class brings a chip on his shoulder to the team, and the defense.

Allen isn't content with a chip, he moved up to the bolders!

“I always have a chip on my shoulder,” said Allen. “I have this big bolder on my back, on my shoulder, since I was in little league. There is never a day I don’t have a chip on my shoulder.”

Interesting...I cant find any analysis of Prince that says he would have been drafted. Most say he would go undrafted or need time in an developmental league. I guess that is why he ended up the tryout route.

Yeah I seen nothing about Prince being a 5th rounder. It's an opinion but I've always seen him going undrafted.
