Chargers, Giants, Steelers meet with Rudolph

Mason Rudolph doesn't know what it would be like to be a Pittsburgh Steeler, but the former Oklahoma State quarterback already knows, at least, what it's like to play on Heinz Field. And when Steelers GM Kevin Colbert and head coach Mike Tomlin met with Rudolph following his pro day workout Thursday, he was sure to remind them just how comfortable he was in doing so.

Interesting. He's hitting good passes. For some reason, it looks like he's having to work extra hard to get the ball out to the receivers, but the passes don't have a zip on them that I'd expect for how hard he seems to be working. It could just be seeing him throw without pads and the camera angles messing with perception. That said, he had some nice deep throws. Puts a lot of air under the ball without painting rainbows.

EDIT: Check out that catch by James Washington. Dang. In all honesty, I wouldn't be too upset if we traded Bryant and picked up someone like Washington to play the third receiver and take the top off of defenses. His speed in the forty isn't lightning fast, but he's a deep threat from what I've read. It'd be a cheap alternative without the headaches (This is Bryant's last year and a second contract, even if it is conservative, is quite a bit more than rookie contracts). It might also help Rudolph's development if we picked up both since they know each other already.

Qb is a very undervalued need on this team, I'd be ok using the 1st round pick on a guy like Rudolph

That would be a waste of a 1st round pick.

    The Case For Mason Rudolph

It's Dan Rooney Weekend, and we're celebrating the late Hall of Famer's best and worst moments -- which are inextricably tied -- by planning to draft the next franchise QB.

Who do you suppose will take Ben's place if he retires next year? Landry Jones? Josh Dobbs? Or do the Steelers draft one after he announces his retirement? It's time to find the next QB.
