It sounds like the next big contract extension going down for the Pittsburgh Steelers won’t be for Le’Veon Bell. In fact, it probably isn’t going to be a player at all. Multiple Steelers’ beat writers are speculating that the next contract extension is going to be for head coach Mike Tomlin.
Pittsburgh and Tomlin last agreed on an extension back in 2015 and he is under contract with the team through the 2018 season. However, just like with the top players on the roster, the Steelers aren’t going to let Tomlin coach in his final year without a new deal.
Tomlin is currently making around $6 million per season, putting him firmly among the top 10 highest-paid coaches in the league. There is a great deal of disagreement among the fan base about just how good Tomlin is as a coach, particularly as a game planner so you can bet that the big raise he’s about to get it going to rub some fans the wrong way.
