Tomlin: Starks injury not serious; Dixon to start Sunday
    Tuesday, September 14, 2010
    By Ed Bouchette,
    Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The injury to the left ankle of Max Starks is not as severe as first thought and he may miss only one game, if that, for the Steelers.

Coach Mike Tomlin revealed today that Starks has a normal ankle sprain and not a high ankle sprain, which might have caused him to miss up to a month of the season. Tomlin would not dismiss Starks as being available for Sunday's game in Tennessee.

If Starks does not start, Jonathan Scott would play left tackle against the Titans, Tomlin said.

Tomlin also announced that Dennis Dixon will make his second straight start at quarterback, and that the injury to Byron Leftwich's left knee has improved to the point that the quarterback might work some with the team in practice on Wednesday.

So does Byron start week 3 or 4 when he gets back or do they keep Dixon as the starter?

I'd say that depends on what Dixon shows this weekend. Plus don't forget that Byron was a Buccaneer last season and that is the Steelers opponent the next week. Byron might like a shot at that one.

If Dixon plays OK enough and get's the W coming out of week 2 I would say he remains the starter into week 3 for sure. If he throws several INT's, scores barely any points on offense, and we lose, welcome in Byron.

It would be funny to see Lefty come back to Tampa and beat the living crap out of the scubs.

If the Steelers win vs the Titans this weekend, Dixon gets the week 3 start. Regardless of how they win. If its a 3-0 game, with 8 turnovers per team, yet the Starting QB is Dixon and the Steelers get the W, then you go with the guy that wins. That's just how it is. It would make no sense to change things, unless you're the coach of the Buffalo Bills and decide right before your first playoff game to Sit Flutie for the other guy Johnson? for the playoffs even though Flutie got you there.

Oh, and this only applies for the Back Up Roll. The Starter at QB for the Steelers is Ben Roethlisberger the Second his suspension is lifted. Any argument against it is senseless.

The only Plus Lefty has at this point is that he can actually throw the ball really really really deep and get it to Wallace in stride. Its just too bad it takes him 8 minutes to wind up to chuck it that deep.
