The Most Respected Players in the NFL

While the expression “Respect isn’t given. It’s earned,” may be trite, it’s 100 percent applicable to the NFL. No player walks into the league and instantly has the admiration of fans and fellow players. He has to prove he’s not only skilled, but that he’s going to handle his business the right way—with hard work, humility, and character.

The NFL, like other professional sports leagues, has a history of players who didn’t have the grit and determination to make it to the top of the food chain. Alternatively, the unifying characteristic of those who do make it is that no matter how successful the player gets, he never loses sight of what’s important.
That ability to remain focused on football, family, and helping others—despite the adulation of everyone around them—is what makes players special. They block out all the noise, even if some of that noise is positive, and remain true to themselves. They are universally respected. To honor these class acts, we've compiled a list of The Most Respected Players in the NFL today.

    POST CONTINUES BELOW

    Tom Brady

Despite his on-again, off-again suspensions for an offense that, even if he did commit, has had no discernible effects on his performance, Tom Brady is one of the most respected figures in all of professional sports. He always takes the highest of high roads, is a member of the mega-star athletes golf foursome, and has even made it into the obituaries of his fans. Of course, much of the respect Brady garners stems from his success on the football field: four Super Bowl victories (including three Super Bowl MVPs), two regular season MVP awards, and 11 Pro Bowls. Not too shabby for a sixth round draft pick, and it’s that rise from overlooked prospect to one of the league’s greatest quarterbacks of all time has served as a model for players across the league. Despite turning 39 in August, there’s no sign Brady is slowing down. It must be the avocado ice cream.

Well they were caught and punished by the league twice, and then there were the spygate tapes that Goodell destroyed without looking at so.....

    They were never caught cheating.

The league never even said that filming from the sideline was cheating. They said it's against the rules, and they sent a memo around the league asking coaches to stop it.

As for Brady, and deflategate? I'm going to post that he didn't do it, or that he did, because how the hell would I know? But the NFL doesn't know either.

hmmm...Against the rules...isn't that the very definition of cheating?

    All in the proof....

    1. Spygate 2007. Loss of draft pick.
    2. 5 players caught using PEDs since spygate. Players suspended. 5 players.
    3. Caught lying about players on IR. Misinformation is against the rules and therefore cheating.
    4. Deflategate. Player suspended. Staff fired.
    5. One more. The illegal formation used by the Pats to score the winning TD against the Ravens. Brady said that they knew exactly what they were doing. Later confirmed to be an illegal play. So, by his own words, Brady cheated on purpose and with full knowledge.

This list can keep getting longer but I'll stop with these obvious ones.

Brady conveniently destroyed his cell phone because he didn't want to hand over evidence that would incriminate him. Basically suspended for tampering and obstruction... then lying about it. It was also comical when Belichick tried to explain it away using science... 'cause he's a genius of everything.

I suspect it's against the rules to play football in a hockey uniform, but few would call it cheating, unless they were Steeler fans of course.

Except if you knew the story of his tenure in Cleveland, you'd realize what a good job he did.

I have to say, I'm surprised at the lack of general knowledge on display in this Steeler forum. You guys should know a lot more then you apparently do.

    TEAM: All 32 NFL Teams
    SEVERITY:
SUMMARY: Stealing your opponent's signals has always been common and neverbeen illegal.
Said former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher, "We had people that always tried to steal signals. Stealing someone's signals was a part of the game, and everyone attempted to do that." Admitted former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson: "When I came into the NFL, back in 1989, I talked to a Kansas City scout and he said, 'Here's what we do, we videotape the opposing team's signals and then we sync it up with the game film.' So I did it." Bragged, former Denver Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan: "Our guy keeps a pair of binoculars on their signal-callers every game, with any luck, we have their defensive signals figured out by halftime. Sometimes, by the end of the first quarter."
NFL commissioner and former Jets public relations intern Rodger Goodell confirmed this himself in 2008, saying that the issue was not stealing signals, that is allowed "and it is done quite widely." The issue is where and how you record them. If you chose to videotape them, then (after 2006) you have to do that from a league approved location. If you hire lip readers, they can do it from your coaches lap, if you want.
After 2006, examples of allowed videotaping locations are: the luxury boxes, media booths and other enclosed spaces. Expressly prohibited locations are the sidelines, the field, locker rooms, the coaches booth or any other place accessible to team coaches and staff. The point of the rule is to not allow the footage to be useful in the current game.
Prior to the September 6, 2006 memo and, 2007 follow up, from NFL head of football operations Ray Anderson, there was no league restriction on filming location, which is the reason the memo was sent.
Many NFL head coaches have downplayed the significance of the practice, saying that attempting to decipher opponent's signals was a long standing practice and entirely common throughout the league.

Whether it "shocks" you or not, it's cheating. You asked for proof. Those 5 players are 5 examples of proven cheating. Lying, coverups, illegal play on the field, the list goes on and on.

Tell us again what it says are "EXPRESSLY PROHIBITED LOCATIONS" for spying signals? It's right there. Proven cheating. Lost a draft pick over that one too.

No, the point is do the Patriots cheat more then other teams? Clearly they do not. Players from all across the league, including the Steelers, use PEDs.

Like your team when they play the Patriots, you've lost.

Only someone who has routinely lost to us would call it cheating. The commissioner himself specifically stated there was no cheating. Like your team, you're losing.

Well, I mean I could be as petty as you, and list the players on your team that have used PEDs. But I'm not a fan of a losing franchise like you are, so I can be magnanimous.

No, those are actual counts of cheating. When players get suspended for PEDs, and the team loses a draft pick for a violation, that is getting caught cheating. Lying on the IR report, which Bill has been caught doing more than once, is cheating. There's a reason the IR is there. The ONLY one I can see letting the Pats off on is using an illegal formation, if only because they did it to beat the Ratbirds.

Now I know this maybe, is, over your head, but there are lots of rules that if you brake them, it doesn't mean you cheated.

We'll try again slowly, and by all means take a day or two to think it over. Don't rush yourself. For some this maybe too subtle to grasp.

Cheating is when you tape, review the tape, and use the information you gained, all in the same game. See how that works? Just filming isn't cheating no matter where you film from. Now, you can break the location rule that they put into place after 2006. That's what the Patriots did. But, the commissioner, aka His Royal Highness, specifically said the tapes were not viewed. Get it? There was no cheating charge. Tough for you I know.

    Good luck.

P.S. You should be the defensive coordinator for the Steelers. You'd fit right in. Patriots 36 Steelers 17

A high school diploma or a GED equivalency is a requirement for many jobs above the minimum wage level. It is also a requirement to enter college and pursue a higher education. For many adults that never received their diploma, finding the time to study for and take the GED tests can seem like an insurmountable obstacle. With the help of web based study aids and practice tests, attaining a GED can be a relatively simple matter.

    >>Chris Hogan Destroys Steelers’ Defense As Patriots Cruise To Super Bowl

by Zack Cox on Mon, Jan 23, 2017 at 12:19AM

FOXBORO, Mass. — On the final play of the New England Patriots’ third possession Sunday night, Tom Brady turned his eyes toward the end zone and saw Chris Hogan standing there, all alone, without a single Pittsburgh Steelers defender within 10 yards of him. It was a sign of things to come. Throughout the AFC Championship Game, Hogan and Brady worked together to systematically dismantle the Steelers’ secondary, hooking up nine times on 12 targets for a Patriots playoff-record 180 yards and two touchdowns in a 36-17 victory that sent New England to Super Bowl LI. <<

What a coincidence, because there is none.

Riddle me this then Patsman....The Steelers, without Bell and Bryant, still managed to put 17pts up. At your place. What do you think is going to be the result WITH Bell and Bryant? You won't be able to triple cover AB in that scenario. The defense may still give up 30+, but our offense will put up 50.
