Projecting compensatory picks for 2018 NFL Draft

Looks like we might get a R5 comp but believe we lose our R6 pick because of the Green disaster.

Compensatory picks have garnered a greater percentage of the conversation in NFL circles in recent years as team philosophies have been changing regarding free agency and, for the first time ever, teams were allowed to trade compensatory picks in 2017 thanks to a rule change.

Lost the 6th round pick because of the Gilbert trade.

You may be correct and it does ring a bell, but I've read it was from the Green deal.

    So maybe we lost a R6 & R6 comp

In addition to paying Green $1 million a game, the Steelers also lost a sixth-round draft pick in the deal. As noted by compensatory pick guru Nick Korte, the Steelers would have had a sixth-round compensatory pick this year if they hadn’t signed Green last year.

    To clarify:

Signing Green eliminated the R6 comp pick.

Signing Gilbert eliminated the R6 "real" pick.

    Which means we lose twice.

Does this mean we take a LS R5 next year?

No, but we could draft a pure FB in round 5!

Instead of a FB I think we should draft to solidify one of our weakest positions in the 5th round ... a holder!

That's fine. We've never had a 6th rounder who did anything.

    (Are you being tongue-in-cheek???)

    AB

Also... Vince Williams & Chris Kemoeatu.

If we go really far back... Chris Fuamatu-Ma'afala, Orpheus Roye, Jim Miller, Willie Williams, Greg Lloyd...

That's not a high percentage, but it's not nothing.

    EDIT:
I've now had my coffee, and yep... I'm pretty sure you are being tongue-in-cheek, sarcastic, and/or facetious.
