    Steelers 2015 Draft Class Review

Analyzing an NFL Draft class after only two years is difficult, but there are times when you can clearly cast some judgment, both positive and negative, regarding both the individuals and the entire class as a whole.

When looking back at the Pittsburgh Steelers 2015 NFL Draft class, there were some really good picks, and others which still make you cringe to this very day. Take a look at all 8 of the teams selections that year, and the evaluation below.

    Steelers 2015 NFL Draft Class
    Round 1: Bud Dupree
    Round 2: Senquez Golson
    Round 3: Sammie Coates
    Round 4: Doran Grant
    Round 5: Jesse James
    Round 6: L.T. Walton
    Round 6 (Comp.): Anthony Chickillo
    Round 7: Gerod Holliman

    Round 1

Bud Dupree was as raw as they come as he entered the draft from the University of Kentucky, but everyone knew that. It is probably the reason he fell to the Steelers in the back half of the draft; however, Dupree seems to be coming into his own as he enters his third season. He may not have the numbers of others in his draft class have, but an injury in 2016 hurt his chances of being a big-time impact player. Dupree could be in for a big year in 2017.

Still a lot of question marks.

Hopefully the best is still unwritten.

2nd Rd. they just over thought themselves. Golson may have been good in college, but he was too small for the NFL. Look at all of the other jitterbug busts. They seem to have a blind spot in round #2. They should trade it for better 3rd and 4th round picks or move up in the 1st.

Tavon Young, Jason Vereett, Deshea Townsend and several others would beg to differ.

Golson size is not the reason why he hasn't been healthy. Don't believe he has played one practice with pads, that's just bad luck. Can't blame that on the team. He had the talent.

It's still early to review draft. But here is a breakdown of the contributors.

Dupree is a starter, and is a breakout candidate this upcoming season.
Coates was a legit deep threat before breaking his fingers. His future depends on how he recovers.
Jesse James has become a solid #2 TE, played "well" in the postseason as a starter.
LT Walton became a rotational player, and is developing into a stud run defender.

As of right now this is a C. If Bud can stay healthy and develops into a double digit sack pass rusher, it will improve the grade of the draft. Golson hasn't played and I doubt with his frame that he can stay healthy, Coates I am iffy on, and Grant of course didn't last long. James and Walton have been playing above their draft status (I knocked James on another thread, but he has contributed more than most 5th round picks), and Bud has been solid when he has played and his arrow is pointing up as long as he stays healthy
