    Is Colin Kaepernick being blackballed?

Even with 111 quarterbacks currently under contract for the 2017 season, the NFL has a QB shortage.

Teams will make big sacrifices to find and keep a quarterback, like trade multiple first-round picks or pay $22 million per year. At least seven teams still are looking for their long-term answer and could use an upgrade at the position.

Yet an intriguing option remains available as an unrestricted free agent. He’s a five-year starter and 29 years old, a good mix of youth and experience. He has led his team to the playoffs and started in a Super Bowl...........

Maybe, just maybe, he's not a good QB.

Re: Is Colin Kaepernick being blackballed?

For the sake of the conversation, let's just say, YES, he's being blackballed. He did sort of bring it upon himself. He took a stand, agree with or disagree with, that part we can/should all applaud. But the controversy it started, the locker room disruption we all know happened, and the fact that he has now dropped his demonstration after accomplishing nothing for his efforts, shows a selfish teammate, IMO. That is something that also kept Cutler from getting a contract and essentially forced into retirement. Different routes maybe, but same results for about the same reasons. Kap may pick up with a desperate team before TC ends, but he did this, not football.

Blackballed? LOL! This is the same player that was beaten out by Blaine Gabbert. No one said that Gabbert was being "blackballed" when he couldn't seem to find a job.

My guess is that Kapernick also thinks that he should be a starting QB and that's just not going to happen.

Re: Is Colin Kaepernick being blackballed?

I bet that had Jamarcus Ruseell taken a knee during the national anthem during the 09 season whiny liberals to this day would be complaining that Russell isn't on an NFL roster because he was "blackballed". The man is just looking for attention. He doesn't start his little protest until he was in danger of losing his job to Blaine Gabbert during the preseason and in danger of becoming completely irrelevant. Truth is Kaepernick is not good, he never really was that good. At his "peak" he barely threw for more than 3,000 yards and 20 TDs and was hyped up more because he could run, and his "peak" lasted a year and a half if that. Truth is, he isn't that good, and is not worth the distraction or the money he commands.
P.S. Let's not forget Kaepernick became a free agent when HE declined his option

Re: Is Colin Kaepernick being blackballed?

I hope he is blackballed. Serves him right. He is on record as saying "he'll stand for national anthem this fall", probably to land a spot on a team. He's pathetic.

If you want to make a statement and "be brave", don't whine and cry when it potentially cost you your career.

Regardless if he is "starter material", I'd be willing to bet that if not for the "off the field circus" he brings to town, he'd be signed (or given a tryout) to some team by now in some capacity. Starter, backup, whatever.

    Serves him right IMO.

Great athlete. Terrible QB. People saying he's blackballed because Gabbert was signed. Gabbert is a better QB than Kaepernick but a worse athlete.

Lots of NFL people are conservative and got turned off by his nonsense. He would have been better served leading with a positive example rather than kneeling down like some bitch giving up. Do something for the community and act as a liaison between the police and the people they are supposed to protect.

Anybody can take a knee and that was no victory formation. He should leave the country.

It's called freedom. He had the right to protest and owners have the right to avoid distractions. If he was a better QB it wouldn't matter. But he isn't. He overplayed his card.

Typical victim-complex liberal. Takes no responsibility for his own actions.

Colin brought this upon himself. He has every right to protest and ally himself with BLM and wear pig cops socks and protest the flag, its also every NFL owners right to not bother with him and his distractions.

And his distraction is not worth subpar Quarterback play, which he is.

Washed up. Has done nothing since losing the Super Bowl and Hairball and the rest of the team left.

Seattle is reportedly interested in Kaeppernick as a back up. Same report also said they might be interested in RGIII as well.

Re: Is Colin Kaepernick being blackballed?

You have a constitutional right to free speech, but you don't have a constitutional right that people will like it, or a constitutional right to be hired by a new employer while you're looking for a job. Maybe if he got fired from his existing job he'd have something to complain about ... but if you've done something that may have worried a potential new employer or pissed them off, they are under no obligation to hire you anyway.

Remember John Rocker? Nobody shed a tear for him when his dumb comments got him run out of professional baseball. "But that's different! He said things that were racist and homophobic!" Well, yeah, but looking at facts alone, the only difference is that what he said pissed off a different group of people. You want to make an argument that a team has a duty to sign someone in spite of speech that some don't agree with - THERE'S your starting point. You're not allowed to pick and chose just the viewpoints that YOU like.

15 Backup Quarterbacks Better Than Colin Kaepernick

Amidst all the Kaepernick talk, let's not overrate the man....

There are actually 15 backup quarterbacks better than Kaepernick, and that doesn’t even include rookies Mitchell Trubisky, Patrick Mahomes, Deshaun Watson, DeShone Kizer and Davis Webb.

The list, in no particular order:

    Jimmy Garoppolo, Patriots
    Matt Moore, Dolphins
    Colt McCoy, Washington
    A.J. McCarron, Bengals
    Chad Henne, Jaguars
    Geno Smith, Giants
    Drew Stanton, Cardinals
    Brock Osweiler/Cody Kessler, Browns
    Chase Daniel, Saints
    Derek Anderson, Panthers
    Nick Foles, Eagles
    Ryan Mallett, Ravens
    Matt Barkley, 49ers
    Landry Jones, Steelers

    Matt Cassel, Titans

    I'd take Jones over Kaepernick...in a second.

Re: Is Colin Kaepernick being blackballed?

LOL at the truther choosing Austen Davis over him. And of course SJWs (Some of whom probably don't even watch football) are whining and complaining that it is unfair that Kap doesn't have a job
