Looks like the Steelers will definately be going WR

    Hello Guys!

With the status of Martavis Bryant up in the air, it looks like the Steelers will surely be going WR.
The question will be in what round and how high the level of talent this receiver will be.
The Steelers really don't have a choice. There is no indication that is given to them that Bryant will actually be reinstated.

I know this is Bryant's fault for putting himself in this position, however Goodell has had plenty of time to render a decision on this. He really screwed the Steelers in terms of the way they have to deal with the draft. If they draft a highly talented prospect that has a high ceiling and Bryant is reinstated after the draft, what would you suggest the Steelers do?

Do they use Bryant or the newly selected pick as trade bait? We know if Bryant is truly done with his transgressions, his ceiling is extremely high. If the ceiling is also high for the draft prospect it will be very hard to decipher which one to let go. Would it be wise to keep both in that situation when the Steelers have other pressing needs?

Not sure what I would do in that situation. It puts the Steelers in a really tough pickle. What do you guys think?

I think late 3rd to 5th round has a ton of talent this year... and the Steelers usually have a good eye for prospects in those rounds.

cant spend high round picks on a kid who may not see the field if Bryant does come back , to much investment to not get a return esp with a healthy Coates , Rogers and AB and Hunter already on the roster ...

take a guy late that can do some of the things you get from Bryant as insurance and use him situationaly if need be someone like Ishmael Zamora, WR, Baylor , bigger kid that can run , no he isnt a route specialist but he can run the fly and post and that is really all you need him to do as the other guys on the roster can handle the other duties

I disagree somewhat. Speed to 'take the top off' is all fine and good. What a WRs job is though, is to catch the ball. Get a WR with decent speed and great hands. Someone who will fight for the ball and can leap. 6' is fine, taller is better. I'm looking for a guy like Mack Hollins or Josh Reynolds in the 3rd. Add in Bryant = BONUS!!!

I like the kid from Penn State but he probably won't last past the end of the 2nd.

Uggghhhh. Can't trade Bryant. If he has suspect enough value to the Steelers that they would want to trade him - then he has zero value to the rest of the league. Can't trade a draft selected WR, because if a team wanted him they could've just selected him.

I will upset if the Steelers "panic" and pick a WR for his role in the 2017 offense. The draft is not only about the upcoming season and something related to a championship window. It is about knocking that window out and installing a massive door. If they select a WR it must be a player they believe will emerge as a dominant WR down the road - not just the most "NFL ready". AB, Bryant, Coates, Wallace, Sanders, etc were all drafted as high ceiling guys that would need a year or two to develop. Why mess with a good thing?

I think so too and I am hoping it is not too early. There are 2 guys in the 3-4 round range (at least as far as I have seen) that check a lot of boxes the Steelers like. Chad Hansen and Josh Reynolds. I would be okay taking one at that point.

Out of all the positions, WR the one the do a great job with in the draft!

I like Ross a lot if he's there in round one. He has true blazing speed, ( faster than Wallace ) and can blow by man coverage, quickly find an open spot in the zone, or nickel and dime DB's when they respect his speed and give him large cushions on quick outs.

Ross scored 23 touchdowns on just 112 touches. He's dangerous in the slot, an outside go or skinny post man on deep passes, and as a kick off return man.

If paired with the best deep passer in the NFL ( Ben ) you could really have something!

I like Ross as well but he already has 3 knee surgeries. Now just had(?) shoulder surgery.

Not sure he'll hold up in the NFL.

They did select Coates in round 3 in 2015 despite not needing a WR at all so there is that. Really hope they don't do a WR pick in the first 2 days, there is no need to draft one early and drafting one that early would be very short-sighted

I like Godwin too. He's a WR with good size and speed. He elevates for the ball, wins almost all the 50/50 balls and has great ball skills. He's one of those guys that believes the ball is his when it's in the air. He plays very strong and always seems to get to the sticks when he gets the ball short of the first down marker. Scores a lot of TD's and has good hands. He plays like a TE with his strong hands and overall strength, and has deceiving deep speed. He just doesn't look that fast, but he's always burning teams deep and ran great at the combine. He's a very good red zone threat.

He needs to learn an entire NFL route tree and polish up some things, but I think the kid can play and be a very good pro. Also, in the right situation he may be able to contribute early because of his ball skills and the way he fights for the ball.

No need to draft a WR now though I wouldn't be surprised if they still did anyway

I'd still draft a WR but not till the 4th rd or higher. With Bryant back this allows us to go TE in the first 3 rds and not WR.

Sounds like he may have to go to a bunch of rehab meetings throughout the season...if he misses just one he could be toast
