With his injury history, he's making the right choice.
“I believe the game is designed to reward the ones who hit the hardest. If you can't take it, you shouldn't play!” - Jack Lambert
He's set financially for life and will get more money in broadcasting. No use breaking his collarbone every year.
Not certain if Romo would have been able to play at a top level if he had tried to return for 2017, but this is not good news for the Broncos and Texans trying to solve their QB problems. Steelers and Raiders currently looking like the 2 main challengers to the Pats.
For those wondering why Ben would consider retiring now, this is another example of a player walking away because he is set for life financially and wants to try to avoid becoming physically infirm with more pounding. And, unlike Ben, Romo had the motivation of trying to get a ring.
Best of luck to him in his future endeavors.
It's not April Fool's anymore, is it? If true, just another talking head to turn the volume down on.
This is the best course of action for him, he hasn't been able to stay healthy

Hopefully he will replace Phil f-ing Simms or Pecilneck Collinsworthless (I know it probably won't happen but I can hope)
Starting his own baking show?
Great News!
Fox allegedly offered Romo the #2 analyst slot to replace John Lynch behind Aikman - CBS did not have such a vacancy and may have decided along with many of us it was time for Simms to go no matter who replaced him so it used the #1 analyst slot as bait to land Romo.
This is a big deal for broadcasters but a nothingburger for me - the next time I watch a sports broadcast because of who is on the broadcast team will be the first time. I doubt a broadcaster has significantly impacted ratings since the early days of Monday Night Football when Howard Cosell helped make prime time sports broadcasts viable.
He's making the right choice. With all of the injuries he's suffered, he needed to think about the quality of life after playing.
are we certain he is retired ? I mean he did wear number 4 ....
I wonder what the over/under is 6 weeks ? 8 weeks ? before he strains a vocal cord and has to sit out 2-4 weeks ?
Good Luck in Broadcasting Tonya!
