“I believe the game is designed to reward the ones who hit the hardest. If you can't take it, you shouldn't play!” - Jack Lambert
Jones was not as aweful as is being made out to be , did I want him back , not necessarily but on the cheap I would have had interest in a guy who can give me some reps to spell an aging Harrison and I would not have been apposed at giving him a shot to play inside ...
as it stands him leaving did not make this team better by any means if anything we are in slightly worse shape for the loss of depth
could do a whole lot worse than Jarvis Jones as your top backup OLB and we just might find that out the hard way dependent upon how the draft falls
Jarvis Jones hurries + sacks per year:
2016: 7 + 1
2015: 6 + 2
2014: injured + 2
2013: 7 +1
thats god awful no matter how you spin it. my favorite part of his pass rush game is the fact that 2 of his 6 career sacks were on plays where he demolished Joe Thomas of all people
To bad they signed the other Jones or would have been the best FA ever even without signing a free agent at all from another team. Again Jarvis is a good guy and gives his all but thank God he will be doing both elsewhere!
Kinda agree but here lies the problem. The team being satisfied with that production doesn't give others a chance that are probably better and will produce better. Same with Landry Jones and RB Croissant. Steelers get happy with mediocre players and the position never gets upgraded!
Jarvis may become more in AZ. He never improved here, that was the big issue. Then Bud comes in and pretty much starts producing straight away, so it's not the system. It was time to move on from Jarvis Jones.
I guess my biggest issue with all the dogging of Jones and calling him " terrible" and not in the good way as in the Towel is we have lessor guys still on the roster that are revered by some of the same people dogging Jones ....
this guy per example ..... http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/ChicAn00.htm
One year deal - no discussion of $$$ - signed as backup so probably close to league minimum
Even the assistant coaches at Steelers West are ex-Steelers
It didn’t hurt that Jarvis Jones had connections to key defensive coaches, having played with inside linebacker coach Larry Foote on the Steelers and having a close relationship with defensive line coach Brentson Buckner – the two attended the same high school and Buckner has been Jones’ mentor since Jones was 14.

Good for Jarvis and lets move on! That said can't wait for the garbage we will sign that is still out there and realize Jarvis found a home before them.
This needed to happen.
