Larry Fitzgerald hints at playing elsewhere in 2017

When Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgeraldsigned a one-year extension with the team, it was sold by some in the media as a conclusive indication that Fitzgerald will spend at least two more years with the Cardinals. And it now sounds as if Fitzgerald has only two more games with the Cardinals.
Appearing on Westwood One with Jim Gray, Fitzgerald seemed to create the impression that he’ll play in 2017 — if he’s playing for a contender.

Of course we don't need him. It is fun to daydream, though. AB, Fitz, Bryant, Bell, Green, etc.. holy crap...

Need? Maybe not, but I would take Fitz on this team right now.

Right now..Yes. Next season ?....when Bryant is back ? Now I would still want him as a short area WR, but mostly because of his great work ethic and Character. What little, and I mean LITTLE that Antonio still needs to learn about the Character aspects of the game...Fitz could teach him.

Would Fitz be an upgrade over every other WR on our roster not named Antonio Brown? Yes. Sign him.

No thanks - don't need the $16 million cap hit.

    Agreed.

Bens window is closing and Bryant is undependable.

    However can we afford him?

It looks like his base salary is $11,000,000 and looking above he is making $16,000,000 total.

So I wonder if he would take a significant cut, say $8,000,000 to play one season for a serious contender.

Fitz should go to the Cowboys.

Does he run every route on the route tree, and run it well? Yes. Is he an upgrade over our current #2 thru #22? Yes. Are all contracts negotiable? Yes.

    Checks all of my boxes.

Agreed. It really comes down to price.

Any idea what the max is we would pay for a #2 receiver of his caliber?

I doubt we would pay even his discount price if he has one, however I am still curious.

I have no idea. It's a pipe dream only anyway. Would be a homecoming for Fitz so maybe a hometown discount?

Fitz has made a TON of money. Money isn't his issue. He'll play for $8 mil on a contender.

    I'd sign him.

    AB/Fitz/Bryant (Or Coates/Rogers)

    Bell

    1 TE

    Good luck.

Who wouldn't take him for $8 mil? That's why it will come down to his preference and about 12-15 mil.

I don't think he'll go for the most money.

He played at PITT. He's one of the most beloved players at PITT from a fan standpoint. He only played two years at PITT and they still retired his number.

It all comes down to one thing: Did he get along with Todd Haley.

If he did, and it took $8 million to get him here? I think he takes it.

But you have to consider who else will be at the table. If New England, Seattle, NY Giants, and other contenders are interested, they will drive up the price organically. His agent may not even pick up the phone for $8 mil.

And it's a good bet that Seattle and NE and maybe even Philadelphia with an open wallet may be there.
