What do they say about patience? That it’s a beautiful thing?
“It’s a marvelous thing,” Ramon Foster was saying late Sunday afternoon. “We needed it today.”
This was after the Steelers dug out of a two-touchdown hole and won their fifth consecutive game by beating the Cincinnati Bengals, 24-20, to remain in first place in the AFC North Division with the Baltimore Ravens coming to Heinz Field on Christmas Day. Their first seven offensive drives didn’t produce a touchdown, but they stayed in the game because of Chris Boswell’s team-record-tying six field goals. Their eighth drive was the difference, ending with Ben Roethlisberger’s 24-yard touchdown pass to Eli Rogers with 7:29 left. Their ninth iced the win as they killed the final 5:53.
“We knew we had to chip away and grind out the game,” Le’Veon Bell said. “It wasn’t a pretty win, but that’s OK. It doesn’t matter how we get it. Just that we got it.”...........
