Steelers vs Giants game for my bachelor's party.Looking for some local advice.

Hey Steelers family. I am blessed to be marrying my best friend this new years eve here in NY. 20 of my closest buds and family members decided that it would be cool to have a weekend bachelor party in Pittsburgh. Half of us are steelers fans and half of us Giants.

We are all of course going to the game on Sunday, but looking for some ideas for a pack of 30+ year old guys to around town friday and saturday.

Any local tips will be greatly appreciated.

    Go steelers!

    Congrats!!!

Forget about Primanti Bros. It's not as tasty as it is famous. Peppi's for sandwiches, and Mancini's for pepperoni rolls.

Stay downtown, and walk across the bridge to the game. There are twenty good bars on either side of the river (especially right near PNC).

Beyond that... it's been ages since I've done much else (I have kids). But, hopefully that's a good start.

Thanks Bud, I agree i have outgrown my primani bros but I know the newbies (giants fans) well have to say they have had it. Speaking of food where is the best perogies in town?

Any good breweries we can do a tour duiring the day?

I totally get that. My brother went back there recently, and he wanted Primanti Bros. My wife & I (who had been back there two times in the past three years) strongly urged him to go to Peppi's... but, he wanted that experience.

I'll ask my b-in-law. He is the king of brewery tours (he flies around the country, specifically to go visit breweries). Plus, he grew up there. So, if anyone'll know, it's him.

Teegre is correct when it comes to Primanti vs. Peppi's, IMO. However, I suggest taking every to the Strip District Saturday morning. It feels like a homecoming for Steelers fans, and Giants fans will feel properly out of place. If you can swing it, try staying at the Springhill Suites, Pittsburgh. It is literally across the parking lot from Steelers stadium, and last time I was there, they had a shuttle service to anywhere withing 5 miles, which encompasses almost all of downtown.

    Thank you.

Definately want the Giants fans to squirm a little haha.

They still dont understand how much severity of love and passion that steelers fans have. Living in NY where the media tears the local players apart and highlight non stories and infatuate them ...example odell beckham jr and anything that he does

Substitute that for a bag of Middelswarth BBQ and a case of IC Light. Oh and some Tums.

    PIEROGIS
    :
    S&K Deli in the Strip

    BREWERIES:
Penn Brewery (this is the best one)
    Grist House (in Millvale)
    Arsenal Cider
    Hop Farm (on Butler St.)
    Full Pint (
    on Butler St.)
    Round-a-bout (
    on Butler St.)

None have tours, nor beer tastings. But, you could walk down
Butler St. in Lawrenceville (at least three micro-breweries in that area).

If you can, I'd stay at the Springhill suites, north shore. It's literally across the parking lot from the Stadium. They have a shuttle that will drive five miles in any direction (tip the driver). Also, Teegre is absolutely right—Peppy's over Primantis. Also, make sure you hit the strip district in the morning on Saturday. If you've never been, it's like a homecoming for Steelers fans, and it'll make Giants jealous as anything they don't have something similar in their city.

So, Pittsburgh is a possible destination in the 3rd week of August this year. (My son's birthday is that week) We are considering other options but this is one of them.

Springhill Suites is out of my budget. Are there any other less expensive hotel options near Heinz Field?

It would be my wife, son, and me so it would be a family oriented trip. I see there is a Children's museum close by downtown. Pirates are in town that week so that is a possibility.

I'd probably check out breweries on my own.

What casinos are near to Heinz Field?

    Any amusement parks close by?

I have never been there and wanted to be near Heinz Field and PNC Park, if we go there.

August is a GREAT time to go.

--Baseball games. Sundays are kids days (they get to run the bases after the game).

    --Heinz Field tours

    --Preseason Steelers games

    --Kennywood Amusement park

    --Children's museum

    --Carnegie Science Center

That is six days of kid-centric fun!!!

As far as where to stay goes, we always stay near PNC. It makes for a very short walk to PNC, Heinz Field, Carnegie Science Center, and the children's museum. Then, we take a longer walk to the restaurants (across the bridge) and the strip district (across the bridge and ten blocks up). NOTE: I've done all of that walking with a 1-year old and a 4-year old.

We have stayed at the Wyndham, which you have to do at least once. The nighttime view is amazing: you look at the point of Pittsburgh/the fountain. Not the best hotel, but iconic.

Wow, Kennywood - what memories that brings back.

And I'd also highly recommend the Heinz Field tour.

Check out trivago.com - it's a very useful hotel site because it searches all of the hotel websites in one spot (Expedia, Travelocity, etc) for the best prices. My wife and I are actually heading up to Erie, PA in September to visit my sister and brother-in-law and plan on spending a day down in the 'Burgh. Hope you guys have a blast!

    KENNYWOOD:
Indeed. My kids were too small last time, but soon, I'll be able to relive my own childhood memories with them.

    HEINZ FIELD TOUR:
A few years back, my brother & I go on the tour, and the group breezes past the TV booth. My brother & I lagged behind, and I break into my Howard Cosell (technically, I was quoting Better Off Dead, but same difference). My brother responded with his SNL Ed McMahon ("You are correct, sir!!!").

We sat there for a good 10 minutes... and, the security guard didn't stop us; so, when we finished, we thanked him. To which he replied: "No... thank YOU. I haven't laughed that hard in a while."
