I was kind of hoping for Julian Campenni, DT from UConn, for no reason other than that he graduated from my high school.

So, what am I missing? Not a really great WR class and this dude goes undrafted? Reported to run a 4.5 or so with giant frame. Looks like another great job by the WR scouts.

Not much on him, here's his highlight reel coming out of college. Rome is first, Malcolm Mitchell is the second one.
Do we currently have any UDFA's that play with any regularity (drafted or acquired?)

It is a red flag in that it is less than ideal and he won't be playing in Denver, but with the resources of a pro team and facility - I agree this is almost a total non issue. Basically it is a condition that can critically impact a player, but can be managed and mitigated like Type I diabetes - another issue the Steelers have successfully worked through with a player before.
Who knows, each person is different - but hopefully it can work. The young man would appear to have the appropriate level of talent and work ethic to make a go of it.

Long story short, the Steelers may be able to "Sell" the idea that "Hey. If you can play, we will give you a helmet on Sundays. Don't really care how you got on the roster."

I'm good. Glad I made it over here with many of my old friends.
Many players catch the attention of teams when they're scouting a higher rated player. I wouldn't doubt that's what happened with Severin. He may have been off their draft board because of medical, but after seeing him play they changed their mind and made them think he's worth a look.
I wish this kid well. I hope he makes the team or practice squad with a chance to develop.
