Did anyone notice Burns at the 31 second mark? In the Severin highlight vid that pczach posted.
Steelers already know how to deal with that since Ryan Clark also had sickle cell. They should be able to help him succeed both personally and professionally.

It is a red flag in that it is less than ideal and he won't be playing in Denver, but with the resources of a pro team and facility - I agree this is almost a total non issue. Basically it is a condition that can critically impact a player, but can be managed and mitigated like Type I diabetes - another issue the Steelers have successfully worked through with a player before.
Who knows, each person is different - but hopefully it can work. The young man would appear to have the appropriate level of talent and work ethic to make a go of it.

the battle for the #5 WR spot is wide open, but in order to make the roster he'll need to contribute on special teams also because that's where Eli Rogers and Demarcus Ayers will have a big advantage over him.

Agreed and judging from Ayers highlights, he looks to be a hell of a return guy. Unlike Archer, he has great field vision and the ability to make defenders miss.

I'm good. Glad I made it over here with many of my old friends.
Many players catch the attention of teams when they're scouting a higher rated player. I wouldn't doubt that's what happened with Severin. He may have been off their draft board because of medical, but after seeing him play they changed their mind and made them think he's worth a look.
I wish this kid well. I hope he makes the team or practice squad with a chance to develop.
