Anyone who reads our board discussions about our past drafts would think we've had the worst draft record of any team in the last 20 years.

When you almost never goes in free agency and you have a very good record, it means that you drafted very well.

The idiot that wrote that article clearly doesn't understand that Steelers message boards are built on the premise that the organization has no idea what they are doing. Only fans know how to properly run a successful NFL team.

Only true draft gurus can understand how detailed film study proves that their small school prospect in the 5th round represented a far better value than the Steelers failed selection of another project CB or project TE.

Clearly the authors of this post do not understand that the only realistic evaluation of any Steelers draft is to hold the organization to an arbitrary standard (typically somewhere in the neighborhood of just short of perfection). A metric based on a relative evaluation of the Steelers centered on a results based comparison with their peers, all other NFL franchises, is not really a valid criteria. It totally fails to take in to account the opportunity cost of the Steelers not drafting the heroes put forth by armchair GMs. It also fails to account for the fact that the only acceptable outcome of any NFL season is a Lombardi trophy. The Pittsburgh Steelers do not do sustained success - they do unequaled perfection.

Colbert sucks. He is totally useless and over rated. I already have a variety of MB posts ready that point out the numerous errors in his draft selections this year.

You're right, they should not have promoted Colbert to GM and the power that comes with that title. They should have left him as Director of Football Operations like he was when Cowher was there and still have the coach pick most of the players like the good ole' days. You know, when they won all those Super Bowls.

The Steelers must have really squeezed a lot out of Cowhers players to overcome the shitty job that Colbert has done since he left.

Poor Tomlin has to try to squeeze out a couple victories a year with the crap Colbert has been giving him to work with. The Steelers are toast.

I'll acknowledge that the Tomlin regime has improved from what was an undeniably shitty start with the draft and for the most part, know what they are doing now. This thread really has the air of "Steelers can do no wrong, damn uppity fans, coaches will always know more than them, dogpile on the dissenters, etc., etc."

Complaining about other users' complaining was a great sign that the last message board was going stale, followed by complaining about the complaining about the complaining, and eventually complaining about the complaining about the complaining about the complaining. I hope we're not getting there already.
    See you Space Cowboy ...

    Let's apply the test.

No - we're on step 20. It doesn't get stale until step 22.
