The Falcons are on the clock...

The Falcons are on the clock...

Over at Steelers Fever, every year, teegre & I would coordinate a "Steelers Fever Consensus Mock Draft".

We would start with the first pick... with a thread, a poll, and a discussion. The poll/thread would be up for 12 hours, and then, we'd move on to the next team. So on & so forth until we would get to Pittsburgh's selection, where the poll would stay open for several days.

Why??? This will allow for us to get a sense of who might ACTUALLY be there at pick #25. No joke: we've come pretty close every single year. Have fun with it.

So... as not to break tradition...

"First Annual Steelers Universe Consensus Mock Draft".

    1. LA: Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota St. (trade)
    2. SF: Jared Goff, QB, Berkeley (trade)
    3. SD: Laremy Tunsil, LT, Mississippi
    4. DAL: Jalen Ramsey, FS, Florida St.
    5. JAX: Myles Jack, LB, UCLA
    6. BAL: Vernon Hargreaves III, CB, Florida
    7. CLEV: Joey Bosa, DE, Ohio St. (trade)
    8. PHI: Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Ohio St.
    9. TB: DeForest Buckner, DE, Oregon
    10. NYG: Ronnie Stanley, LT, Notre Dame
    11. CHI: A'Shawn Robinson, DT, Alabama
    12. NO: Sheldon Rankins, DT, Louisville
    13. MIA: Mackensie Alexander, CB, Clemson
    14. OAK: Darron Lee, LB, Ohio St
    15. TENN: Jack Conklin, OT, Mich St
    16. DET: Shaq Lawson, DE, Clemson
    17. ATL:

the Falcons are on the clock... and will be on the clock until around midnight (EST).

[Mods, we don't want to garbage up the front page. Please, move/erase the Lions thread.]

For the 2nd consecutive year, the Atlanta Falcons draft a DE from Clemson in the first round, and for the 2nd consecutive pick, a DE from Clemson goes off the board. The Falcons need pass rush help

I was stuck between Dodd and Ragland, but i hear a lot of teams are even higher on Dodd than Lawson and Dodd has been going really high in a lot of mocks. I think this could be considered him dropping so im going to take Dodd.

The Falcons have to get help on the OLine but it is too early for Decker here, and for any OG/Center pick. They need help all over the defense. I think they go LB and grab a guy who can help immediately against the run and pass.
    The Falcons select Reggie Ragland.

all very good choices so far, all the mock drafts seem to be evenly divided among the same players that have been voted for...

Yeah, this is a tough one. The need defensive help on the defensive line and linebackers. They drafted Vic Beasley last year and he has shown promise, but they still need more talent on that side of the ball.

They signed Alex Mack at center to solidify the offensive line. I think they have to go defensive front seven here. Any of the choices so far make sense and would be acceptable here.

I think they go Kevin Dodd DE, Clemson.

I think they'd really like Darron Lee if he was still available, but with this scenario they'd probably rank Dodd, Ragland, Floyd in that order.

Word is they are really looking for that S/LB hybrid (ala Kam Chancellor) Dan Quinn schemed in Seattle

All of my Saints fans around here(friends and family) assure me the Falcons are desperately looking at punter in the 1st round. Maybe even a new crowd noise operator depending on best available. They have been shopping Julio trying to trade for a long snapper too.

Dodd is the BPA (on most draft boards).

Plus, the Falcons can use a D-lineman.

    He has the most votes.

    SUMMATION:
    Dodd is the pick. /thread

Ill get the new poll up in an hour (during my next break).
