The Lions are on the clock...

The Lions are on the clock...

Over at Steelers Fever, every year, teegre & I would coordinate a "Steelers Fever Consensus Mock Draft".

We would start with the first pick... with a thread, a poll, and a discussion. The poll/thread would be up for 12 hours, and then, we'd move on to the next team. So on & so forth until we would get to Pittsburgh's selection, where the poll would stay open for several days.

Why??? This will allow for us to get a sense of who might ACTUALLY be there at pick #25. No joke: we've come pretty close every single year. Have fun with it.

So... as not to break tradition...

"First Annual Steelers Universe Consensus Mock Draft".

    1. LA: Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota St. (trade)
    2. SF: Jared Goff, QB, Berkeley (trade)
    3. SD: Laremy Tunsil, LT, Mississippi
    4. DAL: Jalen Ramsey, FS, Florida St.
    5. JAX: Myles Jack, LB, UCLA
    6. BAL: Vernon Hargreaves III, CB, Florida
    7. CLEV: Joey Bosa, DE, Ohio St. (trade)
    8. PHI: Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Ohio St.
    9. TB: DeForest Buckner, DE, Oregon
    10. NYG: Ronnie Stanley, LT, Notre Dame
    11. CHI: A'Shawn Robinson, DT, Alabama
    12. NO: Sheldon Rankins, DT, Louisville
    13. MIA: Mackensie Alexander, CB, Clemson
    14. OAK: Darron Lee, LB, Ohio St
    15. TENN: Jack Conklin, OT, Mich St
    16. DET:

the Lions are on the clock... and will be on the clock until around noon (EST).

[Mods, we don't want to garbage up the front page. Please, move/erase the Titans thread.]

Another team with a ton of needs that could go just about anywhere with this pick. Ezekiel Ansah has blossomed quickly into a dominant pass rusher, but they want to strengthen the DL with a bookend pass rusher opposite of him.

I believe they go with Shaq Lawson DE Clemson.

The majority of their first round picks for over a decade have been spent on offense, including 3 of the last 4. I think they try and replace Megatron with Treadwell

Dodd has no business still being on the board , that being said doubt he is the pick here either

Not sure who to pick between Dodd and Lawson. I'll just roll the dice and pick Lawson for his higher floor. Ziggy Ansah gets a good running mate to rush the passer with.

Re: The Lions are on the clock...

I'm just guessing what they're going to do. They are unpredictable and can go in any direction.

They signed WR Marvin Jones this offseason, so I don't know that they will take a WR with the first pick.

Offensive line is a huge need, but with Conklin off the board the drop off to Taylor Decker may be significant enough for them to not take him that high and to build on the defensive side of the ball. I've heard that they really like Shaq Lawson, but Dodd could go just as easily. Both players look pretty good at the 16th pick.

Also, they're the Lions. So we have no idea what they will do!

I just wanted to explain my reasoning.

The Lions recently lost Suh, Fairly, and Avril. I believe they go DLine here, especially with Dodd and Lawson still on the board. Ziggy Ansah at DE on one side, and now Shaq Lawson on the other.

Could be Dodd or Reed here also but, I'm thinking definitely somebody on DL.

yeah Golden Tate has proven he can perform at a high level as a #1 receiver. He was one of the best receivers in football when Calvin Johnson was out. Marvin Jones will be a sufficient #2 like he was in Cincy. Grossly overpaid, but sufficient. They also have Jeremy Kerley who used to be pretty underrated with the jets, pass capable RB's, and Brandon Pettigrew and Eric Ebron as receiving tight ends.

I forgot how depleted their Dt position is, im actually switching my pick to Ashawn Robinson but he's not even up in the poll

ok, Shaq Lawson wins a close vote to be the Lions' new edge rusher opposite Ziggy Ansah.
