    Where Are The Outside Linebackers?

    Where Are The Outside Linebackers?

    By Ed Bouchette Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

--- When the dust clears, we will see that it was not just the Steelers secondary that failed them, but their pass rush as well, particularly their outside linebackers, who have not had a sack in four of the past five games. James Harrison, 37, leads all the outside linebackers with five sacks, which also ranks second on the team only behind Cam Heyward’s seven.

--- One more sack and Brandon Boykin (1) will tie Jarvis Jones (2), who has one fewer than Will Allen (3).

Ed should ask Colbert, Tomlin and Butler that question, he has access to them.

and Joey Porter also, there has been a real lack of development in players like Jason Worilds and Jarvis Jones...

He won't dare ask because the Rooneys will cut off his access to the team! It's a conspiracy! Hippo farts, bad poker hands and 007 mind games! Yaaaagggghhh!

No lie. It's no secret that Bullchitte has been mailing it in for years now, but basically ripping off a kid who just got out of college?

Maybe he should go back to gossiping - he could probably rehash the tried and true "Ben and Haley hate each other" meme after the disappointing loss on Sunday.

Tomlin said, in retrospect, the Steelers needed to create more pressure on quarterback Ryan Mallet, who was making his first start for the Ravens just 12 days after being signed. Mallet was sacked only once – by cornerback Brandon Boykin.

“There wasn’t enough negativity,” Tomlin said. “That creates an environment where we couldn’t do what we wanted to do.”

Where were the blitzes? You're playing a QB who has had little time to learn their offense and you don't pressure him when the front 4 isn't getting to him?

You blitz guys like that and make them make a mistake.

    I'm so pissed still.

Exactly. IMO, Porter isn't a coach. He is just a loudmouth.

It seems to me the only players developing on the team belong to the O-line.

That surely seems to be the case.

Re: Where Are The Outside Linebackers?

Dupree has hit the rookie wall. Also since he has no pass rush moves that function at an NFL level, tackles are absorbing his quick first step and just running him past the pocket. Something Alex has been harping on since prior to the draft.

Jones, is Jones. He has developed into a pretty good OLB (compare how he sets the edge against the run now versus his rookie year) that lacks the high end athleticism to consistently beat LTs one on one. Weird. Who knew.

Moats, is Moats. Basically a Jarvis Jones clone who hits harder.

Harrison is 37. He still gets there, just a beat slow. If they called holding, well that would be another story. He needs to teach Jarvis that parallel to the ground lean he does to get the corner.

The OLBs are the exact same place we left them - Undermanned and underperforming. Expect multiple additions to this crew in the off-season.

Jones will never be a pass rusher and thats what the Steelers need. It's not because he hasn't put the work or effort in, he just doesn't have it.
