Steelers Can Still Win The Division!

It's complicated, but the Steelers can still take the division. It starts with them winning out and the Bengals losing out. After that is when it gets complicated but there's still a chance!!!

Not complicated. We win out, they lose out, we win the division. Ran the simulations earlier this week. The only question is what seed do we become.

This is highly unlikely because this is the ravens in week 17.The Ravens are so bad right now.

But we can finish in the 5 seed with 2 wins and a Denver loss Against the Bengals(or SD in week 17) in MNF.

sounds like a more likely scenario to me. honestly, the primetime choking falls on Dalton, so maybe McCarron will stand tall (doubtful though).

I anticipate the broncos being the 2nd seed anyways and the bengals being 3rd, texans being 4th. Texans, bengals, who gives a shit, we can drill both of em

It evidentially comes down to winning percentages of common opponents. As the Bengals lose and Steelers win, the gap gets closer and closer. Then there's all the other teams games as well...lol.

The big helper is common opponents win, which when looking at the division tiebreaker is 2nd. Mainly because we went 3-1 against the NFC West and the Bengals went 2-2, we win the division.

IF we win both and they lose both. Records are tied at 11-5, division records are tied at 4-2, we win on the common opponents record.

In 100% of the scenarios, we win the division, the only question is the bye.

Bengals went 3-1 against NFC west too. I think this comes down to the fifth tie breaker - strength of victory

That's exactly what makes them dangerous. That and the Steeler's past history of playing down to shitttty teams..... and losing.

I hope Tomlin, the coaches and Captains are able to keep all the young bucks focused and motivated !

That's a pretty cool link. So, if we can win both games, get the Bungles to lose both games, and have Denver lose their last game, and the Chiefs lose one of their next two games, we can get a bye! And, on that note, the Steelers are undefeated when DeAngelo Williams scores a touchdown in the first or fourth quarter! They're also undefeated if DW scores only 1 TD in the second quarter.

Re: Steelers Can Still Win The Division!

Obviously the Bengals need to lose their last 2 and the Steelers need to win their last 2 for this discussion to even take place.

First tie breaker: head to head: 1-1 -EVEN
Second tie breaker: division record: 4-2 - EVEN
Third tie breaker: common games: 10-4 - EVEN
Fourth tie breaker: conference schedule: 8-4 - EVEN
Fifth tie breaker: strength of victory

Basically, the Bengals and Steelers have beaten most of the same opponents except for these 3 for the bengals:

    KC 9-5
    Sea 9-5
    Buf 6-8

and these 3 for the Steelers:

    ari 12-2
    Ind 6-8
    Den 10-4

The Steelers wins are better quality wins compared to the Bengal wins. So it is likely if the Steelers win their last 2 and the Bengals lose their last 2 - the Steelers are the division champs. However if KC, Sea and Buf all win their last 2 games and Ari and Ind lose their last 2 and Den loses their last game - then the Bengals will have a better strength of victory and will win the division.

So in summary - root for Ari, Ind, and Den and root against KC, Sea and Buf.

There is a scenario where Denver can actually miss the playoffs. How crazy is that?
