The attacking style of defense the Steelers became synonymous with 20 years ago was on display during Thursday's AFC North game against the Baltimore Ravens.
However, instead of Kevin Greene going after the quarterback, it was safety Mike Mitchell. Instead of Greg Lloyd coming off the edge, it was cornerback William Gay.

The defense hasn't made Flacco look like that in a very long time.
That's what happens when you use the ENTIRE defense to bring pressure and make plays!
Under Lebeau, Baltimore's OLine would pick up EVERY blitz! Lebeau was SO predictable they knew what was coming! Look at the low number of sacks the last few years!
Offenses mainly only had to be concerned with 3 players for the most part under Lebeau. They knew for the most part that if anyone would be coming, it would be Harrison, Woodley and Troy! You had an occassional corner blitz by Deshea or Gay. Timmons, Farrior and Foote were even rarely sent to bring pressure as he had them dropping in coverage most of the time.
Under Lebeau, How many times have you seen Olehoffen, Kiesel, A. Smith, Hampton, Hope, Clark, Ike, McFadden, W. Allen, C. Allen, Mitchell, or K. Lewis sent to bring pressure? He made his defense MOSTLY dependant on 3 guys!
Butler is bringing everyone! When you give all 11 guys the opportunity to bring pressure, you can give an unlimited amount of looks. It's much more difficult for offenses to prepare for not only HOW MANY are coming but WHO!
However when you only tend to use 3 to 4 PRIMARY guys to bring pressure, It's easy to see on film of WHO those primary guys are, and easy to pinpoint that it will be no more than PRIMARY guys coming at once.
