Not real good since Ben went down but the sun will be rising in a few weeks when he returns. I think it will be a real shot in the arm for the team. Hopefully they can win a few before then.

Butler is doing better than expected. The giant hole in the S position is not helping. He is actually game planning after Week 1. Haley is still like Hamlet and Tomlin can be his own Greek tragedy. Some of the FA signings are looking like desperation moves and the kicking game has been completely mismanaged.
Will this be the last year of the midget experiments and Jarvis Jones project?

I think I feel better than I did at the start on the defensive side of the ball. I'm obviously disappointed in the record and the Roethlisberger injury...but I feel like if Vick can win 2 games out of 4, the Steelers will be alright and get better...

I was thinking that 4-0 was a realistic possibility... and it certainly could have been. Ugh.
Without BB, 2-2 is good. But, I still think that they should be 3-1; the Ravens loss hurts. Double ugh.
4-3 when BB returns, and then, the way this defense is playing, plus knowing how great the offense can be, I could see them going undefeated for the remainder of the season. Oh yeah!!!

It's one thing to lose because the other team was simply better than you, but to lose winnable games due to self-destruction is another, and to two of the most hated Steelers opponents makes it extra painful.
Combined margin of losses: 10 points. Terrible.
I feel the same. A lousy defense that has yet to prove it can stop the run or pass with any consistency.

Feel worse, with all the injuries and with Todd Haley's asinine game planning in Ben's absence. This is looking like one of those infuriating years where the Steelers lose a big player for a period of time, then lose 3, 4, or 5 games they should have won and miss the playoffs with an 8-8 or 9-7 record. I desperately hope I am wrong and that they put it together and go on a win streak starting tomorrow
If this defense is "lousy" I'd love to see what good is.

I feel pissed off. We came out playing for the most part much better than I expected, but completely blew one game due to stupid shit, and threw away another possibly winnable one by playing the sit-back on defense. There have been some pleasant surprises personnel-wise (Cockrell, DHB) but the injuries are just out of hand.
The constant knife-in-the-back nature of the injuries, plus the way that just dumb, crap-ass luck has gone against us at times, makes me wonder if this isn't one of those seasons where we were good enough to win 13 or 14 games, but it just isn't our year. So we wind up going 8-8 or 9-7 and needing an improbable amount of help in Week 17 to get a playoff spot, then 5 of the 6 results we needed go our way except that the Colts or Patriots tank their game on purpose. Going with the Colts this time, because it's been a while since they've done something to really piss me off.

It's been a strange "quarter" season decided by missed FGs and poor red zone play calling and missed tackles. I still can't remember the name of the new kicker and I am too lazy to look it up.
(Basically, I'm bored since there is no Steelers game today)

We might put it together the last 3 games so Tomlin can save face, but this season is looking like we got brown finger using Third World toilet paper.

You can have all the talent in the world, there's nothing you can do when the ball doesn't bounce your way.
Losing the starting QB and some of your best players for a little more than a month and being done in by one of the shittiest kickers in the league can make a fan lose hope.
All we do is sit and hope for the best. This Steelers team is going to have to make another late season surge.

The game in San Diego is a must win, otherwise forget about the playoffs. At best we can hope for a wildcard road trip IF we make the playoffs since Cinci got the jump on everybody.

The kicking game may be the biggest problem we have faced. we should be 3 and 1, possibly even 4 and 0. Who knows how the first game would have gone if we would have hit on the 2 missed FGs, or even that stupid trick play on the first drive. If Ben comes back to a 4 and 3 record I will be felling pretty good about things.
