Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger once stayed in a game against Baltimore after his nose was broken by Ravens nose tackle Haloti Ngata. He hobbled around on one leg a year later in San Francisco after a severely sprained ankle forced him from a game against Cleveland.
Roethlisberger is known for playing through injuries, but the left knee and bone bruise injuries he suffered Sunday at St. Louis are the most severe he has dealt with in his 12-year career.
“In San Diego, in 2005, this knee got hyper-extended, but I don’t know to what extent,” Roethlisberger said Tuesday morning, speaking for the first time since his injury. “This one is a little more severe than I’ve had and one of the worst bone bruises I’ve had.”............
