They were aggressive and fast offensively for most of the time and we saw the results.
When the Steelers play the time of possession, they are very average, but when they are aggressive, they have maybe the best offense in the NFL with GB and NE.
The Steelers only had 13 minutes for the time of possession in the first half, but they got 29 points!
There were issues with penalties at first, but they were able to take care of that. Great playcalling by Todd today. He called great plays that really attacked the 49ers secondary that isn't very strong.

I was very pleased with most of the game. The only thing I question is our reluctance to line up in the I formation on very obvious run plays except when we're back up in the end zone. I noticed that last week as well. Nevertheless, 43 points speaks for itself.
The 6 TD of the steelers took less than 4 minutes each time!

Not to piss on the parade or anything, but was anyone else getting slightly perturbed by the bubble screens early? Just had a sense that play wouldn;t work against that defense, and save one tremendous spin move by AB that turned what should have been a no gain into a 5 yard play, it didn;t.

I didn't have a problem with them, mainly because I think sometimes they're not even used to gain yards as much as to keep LBs honest. Those bubble screens are one of the main reasons Ben's sack numbers plummeted until the line got up to par. Even now, they help, because they freeze the LBs for that extra half-second before they pin their ears back and come after Ben.

time of possession is important as it means that you let your defense rest more and when you play power offenses like Green Bay and New England - it means you let their offense have the ball less.
Bubble screens are basically running plays in a west coast offense. It's a time of possession thing.

TOP becomes more important if you can convert all your opportunities. If up tempo nets 43 points every game, keep it going. But, we won't be playing this mediocre of an offense every week. While our D played well today, still some areas that can be exposed. San Fran just couldn't convert on it's opportunities.

San Fran had a drive that went almost 9 minutes at one point...lol.
Some of the calls were perfectly called against 49ers blitzes. Don't know if they were original play calls by Haley or changed at the line by Ben, but either way, we looked pretty good.

That is the whole thing. The only statistic you can look at on it's own is the scoreboard. TOP can become important in certain games. Imagine the Pats* with the ball for 37 minutes. Yeah our D played well today against Kaep. I would not expect the same result with Brady at the helm.
