    Tomlins Post Game Interview

    You can watch it here

I have not been a big Tomlin supporter but I try to be fair. However, I can't keep my peace with some of the bullshit he spews at these things.

Reporter: Mike you talked about the sub packages and the injury and some of the miscommunications. Just the fact that there are miscommunications in a regular season game, how frustrating is that for you?

    Tomlin: It's not.

There is more to this answer but I want to stop here for a minute. You are paying guys hundreds of thousands of dollars and some millions and your game planning and player execution leaves one of the best offensive weapons in the league uncovered on multiple occasions. You have got to be the biggest bullshitter in the world to say it isn't frustrating. Either that or your flat out don't care about winning. Where is the passion?

Tomlin continued answer: It's part of it. Hopefully we'll be better, and be better really soon.

Hopefully? How about you actually coach them up and make them better or replace them with people who can get the job done? There is a grand fucking idea.

Tomlin continued answer: I like the effort of the guys tonight. We played a good team tonight.

Really? You were happy with the effort? I am too lazy today but I would like to know the count on blown assignments and missed tackles. Even the big boys like Timmons would be credited with at least one missed tackle. Tomlin is happy with mediocrity. Good coaching outlook.

Tomlin continued answer: They (the Patriots) execute at a high level, they changed the pace, they got continuity in veteran players we understand that.

You understand it huh? Veteran players huh? How about the fact they had 3 rookie starting offensive linemen, switched their linemen around multiple times and benched their starting LT during the game? And I am not expert on Patriots transactions but I believe both of their starting corners are gone from last season and they had other turnover as well.

I want Steelers success, I root for every person in our organization so I truly hope Tomlin is the biggest bullshit artist in the business. Because I feel really bad for our team if he is really this dumb.

Sounds to me like Tomlin doesn't know what to do. Much like how he manages the clock.

Remember, what gets said in public (press conferences) and what gets said in private (locker room and meeting rooms) is highly unlikely to be the same thing.

If he keeps up like this, I wouldn't be surprised to see a "Fire Tomlin" thread pop up around her eventually!

I think there is way too much analysis of Tomlin's press conferences. He is not going to say too much negative or throw players under the bus in a public setting.....and rightly so. This is how a coach should handle things so I give him props for that.

I'm sure it frustrates him and things said in the locker room and team meetings are likely much different. I think he deserves some blame for the issues that plagued the team last night, but looking for explanations and answers in a post game press conference is pointless IMO.

Tomlin doesn't like the media so don't expect him to give them straight answers all the time.

Tomlin is a good coach, but is he great? Consistently fielding a team unprepared to play 4 quarters of football on a regular basis is not something Vince Lombardi was known for.

There is a difference between protecting your team and sounding like an idiot who has no clue what he is saying. I understand not getting up there and saying "Antwon Blake was our worst player tonight" but there is nothing wrong with admitting you got shat on.

I don't get the lethargic attitude of the defense. Sauntering up to the line of scrimmage. Even getting caught out of place when they snapped the ball.

"That's one to grow on, we have to quit kickin our own butts. Not enough detail and execution to support victory.

At this stage of the journey, we’ll see where we are. What’s paramount is we play fast, we play hard and we play with urgency.

You know we as coaches know that we are going to be judged by those calculated decisions that you make, but I think if you die, you die with your boots on.

The good teams, the dominant teams, aren't necessarily dominant in stadiums, but they are dominant largely in moments, when they do what's required to get out of stadiums with victories.

It's important we get back on that side of the ledger, it's about staying in our wheelhouse.

I'm not looking for comfort, we're living in the here and now.

Obviously there was some ambient flow and good competitional contact, and that is the nature of football and really how we want to play.

Obviously there was some ambient flow and good competitional contact, and that is the nature of football and really how we want to play.We didn't perform well. We got beat. We got beat convincingly by a good football team. We will chew on that, however tough the meat is..."
