Re: Steelers: Predicting the 53 man roster V.2

We don't need anyone to come in and upgrade the third-string running back position. Whoever that person is will only be the backup for two games, and after that they will probably get 10 touches all year if that. No reason to waste time and money on that, unless our goal is to replace Archer permanently, in which case I would be all for it.

As for the center position, our best option there is Pouncey. Meaning we make do for 8 games and then he comes back and is far better than anyone we could've signed. Look, I know Wallace and Legursky are limited, but I've seen them both do the job adequately when needed. That's what backups are for. If we don't have any confidence that they can fill in for a few games, then why the fuck are they even on the team?

Browns released Phil Taylor. I would be interested in picking him up. Injuries have slowed him down but he has talent and size. I would put him on par with Mcclendon and a definite upgrade over Mccullers and Cam Thomas

The goal would be to pick up a young player who might actually have a future in the NFL, unlike Harris (and Archer). A young guy who was waived isn't going to cost much to pick up.

now that Phil Taylor is gone, none of the players that the Browns selected with the draft picks they acquired from the Falcons in order for them to move up in the 2011 draft and select Julio Jones are with the team anymore.

it must really be tough to be a Browns fan...

That doesn't mean Webb is DEFINITELY going to get the job. But it sure is a strong sign.

For what it's worth, B.W. Webb was ahead of Kevin Fogg the entire preseason. Always played first, including tonight. #Steelers

I just saw that on Twitter. Releasing Fogg was a mistake IMO, based on the other CBs that we currently have.

I figured H. Jones would be sent to the PS. Perhaps now Chickillo stays. Archer is useless.

Fogg will be on the practice squad and the first CB recalled to the 53 man roster in case of injury or poor play by one of the other 6 CBs who did make it...

Steelers cut DL Mike Thornton, per source. Could be practice squad option.

Fogg had a nice camp. Would think team would like to sign to practice squad

    Adam Caplan ‏@caplannfl

#Steelers waived ILB L.J. Fort. Could be a candidate for practice squad.

Q: Does he have enough talent to take over for Heath (when that dreaded time comes) ?

Also, I'd like to know why Tomlin/Haley don't utilize Will Johnson more often....other than just blocking assignments. Dude can catch the ball out of the back field for sure. ??
